I want to burn. My new DVD-R arrived! I can finally burn DVDs. Welcome to the 90s, right?

Does anyone have any recommendations on what media I should use? +/-, brand, where to buy, etc.? [More:]
The Internet is flooding my brain. Example links: 1 2 3.

I'll probably stop at Staples tonight and pick up a small spindle just to play around with. Yay, coasters!
My husband buys the cheapest ones available. Sometimes he buys hard-coated or scratch resistant because we have kids.

I usually just wait around for big-box-store mail-in-rebate deals that reduce the cost of 'em to zero. You don't see as many of those as you used to, though.

If I were doing [real] archiving, of course, it'd be different. Last I checked, the state of the art was Taiyo Yuden DVD+R's, but that may have changed. There's a big price premium for the archival-grade stuff.

I've mainly used Sony DVD-R with no problems. I got some Kodak DVD+R on sale, and I've had a few that failed to burn properly.

This is cheaper per 100 than Staples.

Yeah go with Taiyo Yuden. I have used them for years with no issues.
Do not look at this picture || I got an interview!
