Two things: →[More:]1) This fog is killing me. and getting chirpy emails from 12 10 miles away about what a gorgeous, sunny morning it is isn't helping since I'm stuck at work.

2) God bless the person who put the entire 1995 version of Pride & Prejudice on youtube. I love you! I love you!

1. It's almost officially summer and it still hasn't hit 65 degrees. I do prefer this to the 105 temps in Philly last week, but come on.

2. I'm out of internets to read already, and it's not even 9am. If I buckled down I could be done for the day by 10. That's not going to happen.

1) House to myself this morning for the last time of the summer: brother's last day of high school. Party at my place for the next three hours!

2) Last night a really powerful smoke smell overtook the house, but despite hours of searching, nothing was burning and there are no electrical issues. There aren't even any brushfires nearby...weirdness.

[2a) The smoke smell was not as weird as the bacon smell of two years ago this August. Drove right into a cloud of bacon smell so strong, and so localized, that we stopped talking, parked the car, and looked to see if someone had tossed a bunch of bacon on the side of the road or something.]

1. I spent the entire weekend watching Tim Russert tributes.

2. I just got home from the beach. There are tons of jellyfish on the shore. We also found a live starfish and gingerly released him back into the water.

No anti-fog from me - one of the finest things about living in SF was the fog. Fog is romantic and mysterious - I used to love to ride the L train out to the Sunset Dist. and not be able to see where the lines ended.

1. I picked up a black leather jacket at Goodwill for $15. For those of you thinking "mid-life crisis - how sad", let me point out a couple of details: A) while I suppose one could wear it while riding a motorcycle, it's not a motorcycle jacket, and B) I went through my mid-life crisis in my thirties, leaving the rest of my life free for my protracted adolesence.

2. While I enjoyed our hike yesterday, the bug bites on my neck are, um, bugging me.

I'm actually kind of loving the fog. If I have to be at work (instead of at the beach or in the pool), I'd rather it be cold and grey. Being inside on a nice day makes me miserable.

1. I think I'm making more progress on this project that I thought at first. Which is good. Because this is only the first part of it. And the second is going to make me want to throw things.

2. I need to just sack up and make the appointment. Making the appointment does not mean anything negative about me and will, in fact, give me answers one way or the other. It will cross one thing off my worry list. I need to make this goddamn appointment. Today.
