15 June 2008

Today was my first Father's Day, and I got a waffle iron that makes waffles shaped like barnyard animals. One of them is a rooster. This is great because I now get to subject my wife to years of witty quips about how wonderful it is to start the day with a nice hot cock in your mouth.

What did you other dads get?
I lol'ed!

Well, my son just finished mowing the lawn for me.

Now you get to do that? I thought that was the whole point of getting married.

I don't have any children, but I bought my dad a case of beer and a bottle of barbecue sauce.

Happy Father's Day, mecha pops!

Mr. Kangaroo got a new computer. He got the one he really wanted even though he offered to go for a different one that was significantly less $$$. I'd like to point out that for Mother's Day I got a pair of Crocs.

I just realized we have 6 working computers in this house even though only 3 of us live here and one of us is under 2.

My son is playing video games with his friend. At some point he may remember to give me the present that my wife and he picked out.

My wife is one timezone over attending Stanford graduation. A kid who was a toddler at our wedding is getting his degree. Oprah is speaking. My sister-in-law told me that Northwestern University's law school grads got Jerry Springer this year, so I guess Oprah is an improvement.

Kangaroo,
I'm sure Mr. Kangaroo would be happy to buy you another computer :-)

middleclasstool, very well quipped - that's funny stuff.

Not to derail - ok, to derail - when I was a wee lass, my mother took pancake requests. Mostly, I did want animals, or maybe a teddy bear or something. She liked a challenge, though.

We were at one of her friends house for an overnight, and the lady made pancakes for breakfast. When she asked me if I'd like a pancake, I said, "yes, please, I'd like a rooster."

My mother had to explain to me that not everyone had the mad batter finesse that she had, and pancakes were generally round.

So in summary - adults today have it sooo easy.

The boys made homemade cards for my husband. We also got him Pan's Labyrinth on BluRay and made him spaghetti with Italian sausage, salad, Italian bread, and fresh baked brownies with butter pecan ice-cream.

I bought my father a vinturi wine aerator, at his request. It's SCIENCE! Even better, it's SCIENCE! designed to get you drunk quicker! :-)

I got some hand-painted terracotta pots from my kids. Need to fill them with potting soil and plants.

I bought myself a Palm Centro, but it was authorized under the rules of father's day and I got a lovely and heartfelt card from my step-daughter and I had a nice day at a street fair, I also had a nice talk with my dad. I'm deeply content.

However, I just made some pasta salad with a grip of homemade pesto and if the film on my teeth is any indication the pine nuts I bought at the green grocers were hell of sophisticated or ancient, I've got four pounds of sketchy pasta salad to deal with, but that is an issue for tomorrow. Happy fathers day friends.

I think Fatso needs to be able to walk properly first before he can mow.
