NoseFilter: I spent a few days in the mountains, and the air was very dry.

Possible grossness inside.[More:] My nasal passages are dry too, and are still sore and a touch bloody.

I've been using saline spray to get some moisture in there, but then I started wondering if the salt was actually drying the old nostrils out even more.

Is the saline spray okay? What can I do, besides sticking vaseline-sodden Q-tips up my nose?
I would just make sure to stay well hydrated, over-hydrated even, and let your body do its work.

I can't think that saline would hurt, though.

People are saline, right? I'm definitely no doctor or chemist or anything, but I thought that's why saline solution was saline. I think you'll be okay.

P.S. There's a county in Arkansas named Saline, but people pronounce it sa-LEEN.

P.P.S. Man, I could type that word all day long. Saline saline saline saline saline.

The saline isn't gonna dry you out... it's perfect for this situation. As is danf's advice to hydrate like crazy.

I get dry sinuses after being in an airplane- it's miserable. Hope yours clear up soon.

*hugs pupps*

This thread is just fine without pictures.

Thanks.

Um, that's suh-LEEN, not say-LEEN, for what it's worth. I used to know a girl who wanted to write her dissertation on, y'know, fake-phonetic spelling.

Like this?

Why, yes, thank you, me3dia.

And I just read this book a couple months ago, too.

Yeah, when I was in Colorado my nose was dried too, and full of dessicated boogerage.

You all were just dying to know that, weren't you?

Oh, and DONOTDONOTDONOT PUT VASELINE ANYWHERE IN YOUR NOSE.

If you accidentally aspirate any of it it is superbad for your lungs.

Ugh. When I have bad allergies I get nosebleeds. I have to say I do put the vaseline in the nose.

Do the old-fashioned steaming-your-head-over-a-basin-of-hot-water thingy. Throw in a drop of eucalyptus oil, put a towel over your head and inhale carefully.

PLUS, you'll have lovely skin.

:)

Isn't it SAY-leen?

Merriam-Webster disagrees with you.

Wait, I see you were talking about the town name. Nevermind.

I was gonna advice the same thing as ninzer0. Also - drink water until your back teeth are floating.

I used to get horrible nosebleeds when I lived in SoCal. I don't miss them at all.
