My partner and I are looking for a 1 bedroom apartment for July 1st, and the search is a misery. If anyone is going through the same sort of thing (or, I should be so dazzlingly lucky, have any leads) I'd be glad to hear about it. It's wonderful weather for commiseration!
We found our place through an agency, alas. The fee's painful (generally, about a month's rent), but it did make the procedure quick and easy (we had a place in a week or so). If things do get, ahem, "desperate," we know a couple agencies in the area (Astoria, that is) we could hook you up with.
Well, we're moving out of a 1BR apartment on the 17th, but it's A) on the upper east side (blech) and b) teeny and c) way too expensive. But you know, it's still available as far as I know.
