OK, a confession: this song is a guilty pleasure of mine. Along with "My Humps" and "Cha Cha Slide".
You see, these and other "hits of today" were played on heavy rotation during my college intramural bowling league. They only had two or three tapes, so we saw the same videos on the monitors every week. We knew the lyrics. We knew the dances.
So yeah, it's with some sense of nostalgia that I appreciate this song.
There are pepole who like this who hate rap videos. And yet, they have so much in common.
I'm sort of fascinated by the extent to which people fail to notice that, under the thin veneer of image & fashion, a pop song is a pop song is a pop song underneath. Group to group to group, everyone's just looking for a nail to hang their flag on.
I'm not a fan of Trace Adkins, but anyone who can make the panel on Real Time with Bill Maher completely lose their shit for close to thirty seconds is okay in my book.
