Pants too low and shirts too short? Now there's an overpriced, manufactured solution![More:]I have a long torso and this problem drives me crazy. This is a good idea. That said, I'm not paying $20 for a tube top for my waist.
one of the "solutions" should have two giant eyes that stare back at you when the lady bends/sits/exposes those upper butt regions.

Finally.

Wait: there's such a thing as a skirt that's too short?

You can buy a long tank top at Old Navy for like $7 dollars. That works for me.

Yeah, both Old Navy and Target sell long tank tops for this purpose.

Also, I have a feeling those would ride down or up and cause a bit of embarrasement.

I love this idea for some reason. LOVE! I want one. I don't wear jeans all summer but these will be great for fall. Sometimes I can't find tank tops long enough. I need to go to Old Navy. I think I could make this. I have an overlock machine

Really? I think it's really quite clever: a dickie for the new millennium!

I thought that this was the solution.

I thought the whole point of low-rider jeans and pants was that your thong or other undergarment solution was supposed to show.

I think the real solution is to buy jeans/pants that actually fit.

This is a solution for which there is no problem.

Easier said than done, I assure you! It's a real pain in the butt- you'd think designers would all work together to make sure that all shirts are long enough to reach the tops of all pants. But nooooooo. Instead I gotta run around thinking, ok, how long will this be after I wash it once and will it be long enough that I don't look like some throwback to the early 90s. Thankfully designers are finally putting out lots of loooong shirts, for awhile it was a barren waistland (get it? yuk yuk yuk).

Does anyone sell tops for this purpose in petite sizes??

It's a belly-skirt? Seriously? A lacy cummerbund? How about some damn non-lowrise pants?
posted by Eideteker 03 June | 16:30
Because lowrise pants look better and certainly feel better on this long waisted citizen. I can't buy jeans that go to my waist because there is never enough rise is my size to make it up there. Pry my lowrise from my cold dead fingers, you maniac.

While never in danger of bareing thong (do not want, off topic) or crack, I do run the risk of exposing pooch if tops are too short. So I do the long enough or not calculation too, like TPS.

Target, while no fashion mecca, reliably makes long enough tee shirts.

I dunno, it's not the worst invention ever. I don't feel the need to get one, but I understand the market.

Yeah, I see so many 'coin-slots' during my day that I can only conclude that ass-crack baring is on purpose. Me I wear a belt and hitch my jeans up high, since I figure that nobody wants to see my pale bony ass anyway.

Well you could wear this garment to family dinner, then go out clubbing, and whip it off it the car. Easy!

Penalty for Teeps for corniness above and beyond acceptable levels! 1000 lashes by a wet noodle!

Seriously, I know it's hard out there to get what you want when the designers aren't designing what you want. Also, body builds different from the "norm" are difficult to shop for as well. I'm overweight and it's rough trying to find stuff that isn't either ol' lady or hoochie mama. Isn't there boring nice middle-of-the-road stuff that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Looks like these

$19.95? Seriously?

It would take about five minutes to make one or even multiples of these...and could be a potentially free project if you recycled old t-shirts or old tank tops. You could also get away with just cutting the tubes out of old tank tops and not even bother hemming/serging.

Oh, c'mon. My understanding is that it's currently like the 70s, when you couldn't fucking FIND non-bellbottom pants. I was actually in Old Navy with a shefriend and she was looking desperately for non-lowrise jeans. She found a pair and I said, "They're going to be Mom-jeans." And, surely enough, they were.

What we need is variety. Fashion likes to dictate: "OMG YOU MUST WEAR THIS!" and that ain't cool. I can't do vintage clothing stores or salvation army-type places; they make me itch.

That may be true. Actual Denim Jeans, I buy men's because I've never found a women's pair that fit me. Other pants, cords, what have you - I just prefer a lower rise. Hate stuff around my waist. Before God invented the tankini, I had to pay super extra money for "tall" one piece bathing suits. I'm not that tall. I guess I'm tall from the waist down or something. Trust me, Eideteker, it IS a shopping challenge. I do understand that people have different shopping challenges.

Hey, they just repurposed a Bella Band! I'm wearing one at the moment (best. pregnancy invention. ever.)
