02 June 2008

I saw this shirt on a real live toddler this weekend. [More:]

I guess I must be getting old, because I found myself disapproving heartily.
No, pups, you're just remaining a woman who is neither trashy nor tacky.

Yea, that's not cute.

I heartily disapprove as well.

Yesterday I was behind Mercury Mountaineer with a license plate that read, U ENV ME. My husband and I got a chuckle out of that.

Oh... dear. I assume the unseemly Oedipus reference is... unintentional? (Because if it's intentional, then it's even grosser.)

I saw a preteen-size baby T last summer that said "Future MILF." Equal degree of ick.

Yeah, that's really bad taste. I remember my hear sinking in a similar fashion last year when I was waiting on a train platform and saw a girl who must have been about 8 years old with a Playboy logo'd t shirt, loads of makeup and really cheap jewellery on. Whatever happened to the innocence of childhood?

I'm glad y'all concur. I was feeling stodgy.

My assumption is that the dad bought the shirt for the kid as sort of a flirty joke he shared with the mom. But still. (And I think the kid was a girl, but I don't really remember.)

The whole MILF thing is also gross because it implies that even though a woman ZOMG is of a 'certain age' (which seems to be getting younger), some man will still find her attractive, so it's all okay. Gross.

Right. The undertone is that it's unusual that a woman who has given birth would still be sexy.... like "Hey fellas! Here's one who didn't let herself turn into a cow after pushing a baby out of her cooch! WOW!"

Both of these shirts are disgusting.

There was an article about "cougar-hunters" in last month's Boston Magazine. The word is gigolo.

Um. Yeah.

The only way to avoid the Oedipal reference would be to go with what? "MYLF?"

Bleh.

Totally. And the "certain age" seems to be, like, 28. It's disturbing.

It's funny because that kid totally wants to bang his mom.

Did you see the MILF in question?

I don't see what the big deal is. I'd happily join thr Mercer Island Liberation Front - we need to take the island back from the obnoxiously wealthy dorks who are currently overrunning (and over-building) it. It's good to see kids that age becoming involved in politics.

Am I too late to say that I'd be completely shocked to see a t-shirt like that in public, let alone on a toddler? I completely disapprove that's just how I am.

I'm with Hellbient. I wish I had seen these people. It's sort of like seeing a unicorn. Except a totally tragic unicorn, high on meth, telling the world to suck his horn.

What's the consensus on a onesie that says "Dingo bait"?

I did. Are you asking me if she was hot?

deeply offensive on several levels. Sexual messages on an infant - wrong. The whole MILF crap - wrong. Sadly, these people have reproduced.

Why, just the other day I was trying to be less judgmental. Fail!

Bingo. Tasteless and disgusting.

And I LOL'd @ bmarkey.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but... FUNNY!!!

I got my nephew a onesie that says "My ninja skills are in the 99th percentile." I think that's way funnier than that offensive, tacky MILF one.

Dingo Bait is funny; MILF, not so much.

I like this one.

("Dingo bait" is funny, too.)

Well, let's look at the bright side: at least you didn't see the shirt on a real dead toddler.

sorry.

The t-shirt -- it is not classy.

Obviously the kid was not with his own mother.

I had gotten my daughter a onsie when she was an infant that had "Evil Genius for a better tomorrow."

That's where I drew the line.

Why, yes. Yes I am.

I made a pregnant friend a Slayer shirt for her little unborn one. I don't know how I feel about it, but she seemed to think it was funny. Actually, I don't really know how I feel about the entire concept of t-shirts with words on them.

This is a model baby, btw.

My cousin once got me a t-shirt for my toddler son that said "Nasty, Brutish, and Short" from her college. For the life of me, I never knew if it was an insult or funny.

redvixen, I think it's funny! I wouldn't take it as an insult.
