Not the ordeal I'd expected ... →[More:]
I went shopping today to get some interview outfits, because I've decided to look for a new job. In my current job I can wear jeans every day and I don't actually own a suit any more, so I put on my one smart black skirt and prepared myself for what is usually a horrible ordeal - clothes shopping.
I hate having to buy clothes. I'm short and curvy, and nothing ever fits me properly. But today was different. I think this was because I wore my
$200 Rigby and Peller bra, which gives me the right shape.
I found that, in jackets and blouses, I needed a size smaller than I thought I would need.
I bought three jackets, one skirt,
a gorgeous dress for a wedding I'm attending (which was an unexpected bonus, as I thought that would be a whole separate shopping ordeal) and four blouses. Total spend was £152 (about $300).
The black jacket I bought matches my black skirt perfectly so I didn't need to buy a matching one. The skirt I did buy is a light wheat-coloured thing that goes with one of the other jackets, which is a kind of tweedy thing. I find all this kind of thing very, very difficult. I did not buy any hosiery so will have to have a look at what shades and thickness are the acceptable norms at Canary Wharf tomorrow before I buy some.
