That woman gives me nightmares. I imagine when she walks around you can hear her bones clicking through that taut orange skin. Like one of those chattering teeth wind-up toys, with fake boobs.
I like Victoria Beckham because I think she has a sense of humor about herself (see another one of the pictures for the Marc Jacobs campaign) and she wears crazy stuff and I like that. I tire of safe fashion choices, every now and then I like a little craaaazy.
Ever looked a chicken in the eye? If not, I don't recommend it. It's as if you're staring into this wierd spooky void. It's not that the lights are on and nobody's home; it's the total absence of light, a black hole of the soul.
No--some Americans think she has a sense of humor. I think it's the accent, or something. I assure you, this American perceives her as a po-faced, vacuous bimbo.
I'm also a fan of people who treat their body like an engineering project (I like an art project even better though) (and, as if it even needs saying, Victoria's aesthetic preferences are very different than my own), but, on the whole, I don't have any strong feelings about her one way or the other.
And my understanding is that Beckham-the-footballer is an overrated pretty boy, which is, for good reason, one of the most despised of athletic cliches.
I think she has a sense of humor (data point: not American) and it has become apparent to me over the years that she seems to be just pulling our legs all the time, ever since she convinced Beckham to wear the same leather outfit as her to some red carpet party ten years ago, I knew that her self-mocking "I'm a doll" thing would entertain. Funny is really all she's got. She's like a comment on celebrity, done with a straight face.

Beckham is way past his best as a footballer now, and he's playing for a team that's the equivalent of an English League 2 team. But in his day he was the finest crosser, deadball kicker and long passer of a ball English football had seen in decades.
I mean, the kid was told "son, you'll never play football, you're too short" and he worked after practice like mad to get a killer move (the curved goal kick for those who don't know) and perfected it. I respect anyone that is that stubborn who works hard on learning something that will elevate them from "too short" to "hey, we need you man". Ambition is neat when done right.
Sorry can't hate either of them.
horrible music. :) But I saw some of those live. Bent like a banana! You'd think the goalies would catch on and realize they'd have to jump like nuts to catch one of those! ;) Aaah, bless good goals.
Ali G interviews Posh & Beck. I think Posh comes across as being quite personable, actually. Beckham doesn't do much talking at all but takes the jibes rather good-naturedly.
ooga-booga, I was thinking about that interview, too. That was the only time I ever heard her speak since I'm not much up on the celebrity thing, and it made me like her more than my impressions from her pix.
I watched a bit of the Beckhams come to America or whatever it was called. She was funny and personable then as well. She definitely knows her reputation and plays up to it.
