Radio b – Jook Joints, Honky-Tonks and Skull Orchards Two and a half hours* of American roots music from the period between the mid 40s and late 50s: early R&B, Blues, Western Swing, Proto-Rock & Roll, Jump Blues, Honky-Tonk, Rockabilly and Hillbilly Boogie, with a few other goodies of the time for seasoning. The joint starts a-jumpin’ at 11 AM PDT / 2 PM EDT – just about an hour from now.

*I thought this was gonna be my swan song for broadcasting at this time, so I made the set list a little longer.
And we're off.

bkarkey, you are awesome for so many reasons. This fantastic music during my boring Friday workday is just a small one. Thank you!

Key, I gave you a new nickname there.

I hate when I misplace my bkarkeys.

Get the Mop! I fell in love with this song when I first heard it, on an Oxford American sampler a couple years ago.

You're really, really making me wish I could go swing dancing tonight. But my car's still in the shop, so I can't get to the dancin' places.

37. Spade Cooley & His Orchestra

"The man whose very name is offensive" as the man on the radio used to say..

Looks like an awesome set... sorry I missed it.

Thanks, Triode. I imagine I'll play something similar at some point.

As for Spade Cooley: definitely offensive, seeing as he beat, strangled and stomped his second wife to death. He made some great music in his time, but not a real nice guy in the end.
