Moment of Teacherly Pride [More:]

I gave my adult intermediate CEF B1 students (uh, the link explains what that level-y jargon means) just took an exam, a really tough exam that tested months and months of knowledge, and they did really well.

The writing section - a no-dictionaries, no-first-draft, never-seen-the-prompt-before 30-minutes-only "e-mail" to a friend describing what it was like to be on a plane that developed engine trouble over the Atlantic - was the best part: they were throwing around things like "I should have just stayed sunbathing in the garden instead of taking the trip!", which is awesome. Their mistakes were small, fixable, and will pretty much disappear with more practice.

I guess I am a teacher after all.
Congrats!!!!!!

oh, beautiful post full of self confidence. I had one of those feelings today at a meeting. I guess I am an organiser after all!

Congratulations, mdonley! I remember how hard conditional tenses were in French, and I imagine that it's a lot harder to learn all the English "rules".

Where are you teaching, mdonley? Are you in China?

Oops, I see Riga listed in your profile. Have I not bumped into you before? Were you ever in China teaching ESL?
