They're beautiful. I had two land in my backyard. I liked to think of them as husband and wife.

Anybody remember a few years back a bit on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart about the small town Alaskan city council member who passed an ordinance making it illegal to feed eagles? That was my dad. Eagles are always loitering around the end of the Homer Spit, pooping on everything.

Heh, a friend of mine who worked as an observer on boats up in Alaska said they were kind of like pigeons up there.

I see them once in awhile around here, and there's a Golden Eagle that lives near some silos east of the town I live in, Golden. hehe. I saw it up close taking off from the ground once. That's one big bird!

I am lucky enough here in Jersey to see one almost every day on my trip to and from work. They are increasing in number, but still uncommon enough so that I get a thrill every time I spot him/her.
