Cell phone "low battery" signal driving me nuts What possessed the Motorola Razor (Verizon?) people to force you to listen to your cell phone beeping every 30 seconds when the battery is a little low? [More:]Isn't there any way you can turn this feature off? I don't always remember to turn off my cell when I want to take a nap, go to bed, or simply am otherwise engaged. Even when my phone is on vibrate, I can hear it from across the room sometimes. Why is technology single-mindedly bent on driving us crazy???
Wouldn't the beep waste the battery? Very odd.

There was an option on my phone to turn this off, I just had to dig for it. However, my phone was made by a different company, so YMMV.

Uh oh, upon google searching, it seems like there's really no option to turn it off. How annoying!

I mean, without hacking your phone, that is.

I've always wondered about this, when gadgets beep or start flashing a light when the battery is dying.

I've worked on a cell phone project. The engineers groan and roll their eyes when specifications for 'features' like these come down from on high.

Yeah, isn't that great engineering.

Oops, at least DF says the engineers groan, though possibly not as much as I groaned when I had a cellphone that wasted my low battery power by beeping to tell me my battery power was low. GhhhhhhahGawd.

My Nokia does this, and it drives me insane beeping every 5 seconds in the middle of the night.

The best way to fix it is to ditch the RAZR (I never looked back). Alternatively, I've found that power cycling the device may help (you may need to give it several minutes' rest). That, or carry a spare battery/charger.

Yes, it sucks.

I've heard you can dial *3370# to access reserve battery power on some phones (for example, if the battery is dying and you're trying to dial 911 before you're dead)... Not sure, though--never tried it.
