If you didn't know his, cats love laptops, but especially covet macs. They give off heat and have keyboard short cuts that are innate to cat DDR moves. The trackpad loves them and they will know how to do things with their butt before you do with both hands.
Much like how Bees can find lost items i cannot (and leave them smack in the middle of the floor), she can also do complex searches and imports that make absolutely no sense.
That's all neither here nor there.
Early on, she had a love of the power cord that knew no bounds and i have the tiny tiny teeth marks to prove it. i taught her it is wrong to play with cords and i don't like it, even though mac cords are the exact perfect mouth gnawing size for baby kitties. Now she only pulls out the power cord when she is pissed off at me, and she knows exactly what she's doing. It's not cord abuse, it's sending me a message.
i live in a web of cords. She knows not to mess with them. i'd like to think i taught her but i think she's just particularly odd.
Teach them no, then divert them with something more fun. It's that diversionary tactic/incompatible behavior thing.
Oh, wait, forgot the practical advice:
Keep cords, esp. headphone cords out of the way of temptation. Don't let the fetish develop and flourish.
Cords are a NO. Always a NO. Divert from interest in them.
If they are doing it for a reaction, ignore the bad behavior and reward the good.
i think this was all in that article someone linked to training exotic animals.
Meanwhile, i somehow shocked myself of the power plug.
?!
My kitty has devoured two pairs of headphone cords, a phone cord, a cell phone charger, and a wireless router power cord. Surprisingly, he has not been shocked. He gets away with it because he's so cute. This goes for the fiance as well. I'm just a sucker for teh kyoot, I guess.
The Senator chewed through my TV power cord and 2 expensive headphones cords when he was a tiny bunny. Now he knows that cords are not for him to play with.
Sometimes when he is feeling feisty, he hops back and forth under the ethernet cord. When I don't pay attention to him, he flings the cord to the side with his mouth, making me jump up and say NO! while tapping him on the nose with my finger. But he never chomps now, just flings.
