AskMeCha: where is my cat? →[More:]so as per the advice
here (for which many thanks) I have been largely ignoring him, but sitting with him when he'll tolerate company. However, if anyone gets too close (like more than about 4 feet) he first growls, then hisses, then does a weird thing where I think he bangs his head in order to make a loud noise to scare us off (it works!). Is this normal? After I've sat with him for a while the growling mostly stops and he visibly calms down, which is nice.
Also, he goes completely missing during the day - he can't live in his hidey-hole in the kitchen any more as I cat-proofed it (he probably hates me for it but there are nasty things under there, like slug pellets and dead slugs). He has a couple of standard hiding places (in a cupboard, under spare bed) but for whole stretches of the day I can't find him. He is eating and drinking normally so I'm not too worried, but where oh where is he? Vet deadline is tomorrow or the vaccinations have to start again...
anyway, thanks for listening! I'm guessing/hoping that as he is litter-trained he can't be fully feral...
