Radio GNFTI: High Octane Insomnia (45:30)
----------------------------------------------
01. dEUS - Suds & Soda (BE | Worst Case Scenario, 1994)
02. Jens Lekman - The Opposite of Hallelujah (SE | Night Falls Over Kortedala, 2007)
03. Tokyo Police Club - Be Good [RAC Remix] (CA | Smith EP, 2007)
04. Windmill - Tokyo Moon (UK | Puddle City Racing Lights, 2007)
Do not be mistaken: the guy who sounds like Wayne Coyne's evil twin straight from Oklahoma is really just a pasty geek from England. North America release planned for this summer.
05. Guillemots - Get Over It (UK | Red, 2008)
06. Ryan Adams - Firecracker (US | Live The Opera House, Toronto, Ontario, 2003-10-12)
Vicious harmonica-ing that should make jonmc jealous.
07. The Field - A Paw in My Face (SE | From Here We Go Sublime, 2007)
Yes, that was a sample from Lionel Richie's "Hello".
08. The Zutons - Valerie (UK | Tired of Hanging Around, 2006)
I'm finally decided: I like the cover better. I recorded a silly version that's kind of in the middle for kicks - remind me to put it on Music if you're interested. Although like everyone else I have no idea what to make of this.
09. Therapy? - Potato Junkie (James Joyce Is Fucking My Sister) (Northern Ireland | live version, date/venue unknown)
To some: a lucid musing on what it means to be from Ireland. To me: splendid noise from Hell.
10. Sordid Humor - Private Archipelago (US | Light Music For Dying People, 1994)
Criminally underrated band from California, active in the early 90s.
11. Flip Kowlier - Niemand (BE | De Man van 31, 2007)
Don't worry, even I find this almost unintelligible. It's in West-Flemish, and from what I gather from transcriptions, the singer warns:
I hope it will never come to this
But should things ever be over between us
I'll busy myself with writing down all the things
I miss, and which are giving me the blues
It will be a book printed in the smallest type
Printed on phonebook paper
And if ever you should want to read it, baby, come on
I bet you'd never make it to the end
