Usually, when I have to use Maple I end up wanting to throw it out a window. Today: no exception. However, I will at least be laughing as I defenestrate, because it gave me my new favorite error message ever (ever = this morning, anyway), which very much encapsulates my feelings about Maple. Thank you for listening, and have a good day.
Ugh, Maple.

That also encapsulates my feelings about Maple.

I should note that the mistake in the code is obvious (well, you know) and totally my fault, but could Maple's error reporting be any more full of FAIL? No, no it could not.

Back when I was taking Programming 1 last fall, we had a TA named Mario that would always make sarcastic comments about our code...and eventually it turned into a good-natured battle where we'd try to defend ourselves against his comments (my favorite was "See? That's how it looks when you code it right!").

One day I got fed up with it and added some special error-checking to part of my code. When he ran the program and tried to make it crash, a message box appeared with the words "GAME OVER MARIO".

Sadly, that's probably my most exciting college experience so far.

0 < FAIL?!?

No, FAIL is ALWAYS less than zero.
DON'T BOTHER is equal to zero and WIN is greater than zero.

Dman, you really did make me LOL at my desk, thanx. *waves at colleague doing the prairie-dog thing*

wendell, I love you. Especially since I cannot view photobucket images here @ work.

Wolfdog, it's good to have you back.

DMan: I had a professor whose first name was Mario (he was fine with being called Mario or Dr. Simoni, but apparently very much not fine with being called Dr. Mario). I'm not sure how, but a friend of mine managed to convince him to walk into class one day and deadpan "Its-a me, Mario" before beginning the lesson.

And I can also attest that, while 0 may or may not be < FAIL, Maple < FAIL is most certainly true.
