I need help pairing a dish [More:] So some new friends are coming over for dinner tomorrow night, and I plan to make my standard wowzer dish as the main course. It's a great summer standby, and tasty as hell (and easy to make quickly, which is key). What I don't know is what to pair it with. We could grill out, but what to grill? Veggie side dish? Any help?
Crusty bread and decadent dessert. That's it. There is no need for a side dish with this salad, in my opinion. You could do an appetizer: cheese, grapes, crackers if you feel you need more food.

Antipasto or skewers, Lori's idea is good, so it's all stuff that could be grazed on at will.
Maybe a chocolate fondue dessert or fruity sauce over cake bits.

That is a good looking wowzer.
You don't need anything else but a fine bottle of wine.

Want to put the wowzer over the top¿
I would grill up some fresh salmon on the Barbie instead of smoked salmon, placed on top of the salad and you've an all in one meal there. If you plank grilled the salmon... so much the better. Throw in some wood chips and smoke that planked salmon while you're at it and that recipe will be da bomb./ Dang./

what else could there be to add¿ nothin but fun 'n music. Oh and those bottles of wine...

Crostini, and a nice rose wine, chilled. . .some nice cheese maybe with the crostini.

whoah. Alicesshoe. We are so doing that once the mr. taz gets back.

Agreed with everyone. It doesn't need any other side dish at all... and even appetizers that are too fiddly would just detract. I'd say wine, maybe some herbed goat cheese, and crusty bread. And as lori says, maybe some grapes.

Oh hell, Alicesshoe, that does sound tasty. Unforch, I am not going to have time for that. Our dinner guests, somewhat unusually, will be arriving at 5:30 (they have a 3 year old who goes to bed punctually at 8, so, yeah.) for dinner no later than 5:45. That's not going to give me a whole lotta time for great smoke/plank grilling. Although, that does sound wonderful and I plan on trying that soon.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I am going to go with an antipasto plate, crusty bread and grapes. Lots of grapes.
