"I never tried to lie to you, never tried to lead you down a false path." [More:]Ron Stone, a local Houston tv news anchor, and the one of the last journalists I actually trusted, has died at 72. Now all I have left is Helen Thomas. I knew him a little bit because of my family, and I am very sad.

There's a page with some videos of him (and his partner in mirth, Doug Johnson) located here, but it's understandably pretty slow to load at the moment; Houston LOVED this guy.

I am very sad.
He seems like a great person, WolfDaddy. Longtime local anchors (the good ones) do become like members of the family over time, and also extremely influential in the community.

My long-ago NOLA anchor "anchors" were Garland Robinette and Angela Hill, once co-anchors and once married (she still anchors one of the local affiliate stations, and he is now on radio, and became momentarily famous, outside of New Orleans, after Katrina). I've met them both more than once, and thought they were both pretty much the real deal.

It seems that your guy Ron Stone was the real deal, too, and will be remembered with love for a long time.
