Do you ever dream that you're sleeping, or even that you're dreaming?[More:]

It's been happening more and more to me lately, and I think it's strange. I have entire dreams where my predominant activity is sleeping or dreaming. It's meta-dreaming.

It's not just me, right?
It's not just you. But nearly all of my dreams are incredibly mundane, like, I'm sleeping and then I wake up and go to work. Then I wake up for real. Or I dream that I'm trying to get to sleep. Dreaming about insomnia sucks.

Ditto the not just you. I frequently dream that I'm dreaming! When I start dreaming I'm dreaming that I'm dreaming, it'll be time for the serious meds.

Oh I've done that many times. I hate it when I wake up though, because I get very confused about what's going on.

Yes. The Fake Waking is terrifying. Whew! I've awoken from that terrible nightmare! Oh wait! I'm STILL SLEEPING IN THE NIGHTMARE! Hate.

Yes, all the time. And I'm exactly like gaspode. Ask me about the $5 dream some time.

You know what I hate? Peeing dreams. You keep dreaming that you're peeing but you still have to pee after you've peed, or you're looking for a place to pee but can't find one, or keep getting obstructed from getting there... or over, and over, and over again you're walking down the hall to the bathroom to pee, but somehow you never manage to get there?

When you finally wake up and get to really go pee, it's such a massive relief after all that incredible dream pee stress.

I guess I drink too much water at night.

Sure. Back when I was heavily experimenting in lucid dreaming, I got myself trapped in a deep set of nested dreams. Each time I forced myself awake, as I normally do when I suspect I'm about to have a nightmare, I would find out I was still dreaming, and that it was a little colder. Eventually, I thought I was trapped, or even that I had died or was dying.

I dream often that I am incredibly tired, like can't stay awake tired. There's something peculiar about being basically asleep dreaming about needing to go to sleep. Also, taz, I have pretty much those exact same bathroom dreams but mine are all weird bathrooms not unfindable ones. So like really high-up toilet, or some big locker room of toilets or something. Oddly these aren't oh-I-have-to-pee-IRL dreams, they're just weird bathroom dreams.

Tell us about the $5 dream? Please?

Oh, here's the entry I made about it.

As a fellow well hydrated sleeper, I feel your pain Taz, I get the same type of dreams.

As far as the dreaming of sleeping/waking, I do get those, but for whatever reason, I tend to forget those dreams much more quickly than other types. They tend to be really really odd, and when I wake up, I recognize them as being really odd, but they fade very quickly. I should write them down.

Oh, not for me. If I wake from such a dream in the middle of the night, I have trouble convincing myself that I really am awake and properly in my actual bathroom. Some part of my brain fears I'm still asleep and if I pee, I'll wet the bed.

Just be happy that you weren't in a town nearby Nagasaki August 6 (and 9) in 1945 like I was the day before yesterday in my dreams! (or rather, night). Trying to tell all the doomed peope what to do, and then bring the children to hide with me behind lead tents as we waited for the next bomb (which fell before I woke up, that was my wakeup, actually -sucky way to go!) it really STRESSED me out, I was so happy to wake up you have no idea.

I've done the fake waking hundreds of times, that's not what you mean though, is it? Don't you mean when you're dreaming and it's all so absurd that you can even converse with yourself saying "I'm dreaming"?

oh, ps Tazz - that pee thing;

One of the first proper dreams that I can remember is watching myself leave my fluffy white bed with in the room with yellow striped wallpaper, and enter the hallway that was blue, just to end up in the bright stark (omg! light so bright! ouch my eyes!!) blue bathroom, pulled my knickers down, seated myelf on the toilet relieving myself like one should.
Then it hit me: "I normally don't see myself doing anything!
Cue abrupt awekeness in soggy wet bed and crying, followed by mom saving me.

Sometimes I feel like I'm dreaming when I'm awake, or like nothing's real. It's a strange sensation. Like I'm all pins and needles, not solid. It'll happen just walking down the sidewalk. Like I could walk through things if I wanted.

My dream dreams tend to be incredibly active, like Indiana Jones flying through a mining tunnel active. It's my life that's so still.

I only get that "dream when awake pins and needles" I could walk through people things when I'm hyper-stressed. It doesn't mean anyone around you, or anything for that matter, may have caused the stress, though.

Yeah, it's actually a pleasant sensation for me. Very dreamy and relaxed. Having read The Midnight Disease lately, I'm thinking it may be some sort of mild seizure-like thing (which sounds scary, but shouldn't be, I don't think -- it doen't happen very often). One of my half-brother's was epileptic, come to think of it.
