Nice Day for a Geek Wedding I have been asked to "DJ" (i.e. iTunes playlist) a geeky friend's wedding reception at the end of June. I have most of it plotted out, but I am haunted by the feeling I have forgotten a few good quirky wedding songs. Any suggestions? (details after the cut)
[More:]
The music is divided into a slower, romantic section for dining and a faster section for dancing later. An example of the kind of music I am looking for:

Baby Love Child - Pizzacato 5
Birdhouse in Your Soul - They Might Be Giants
If I had a Million Dollars - Barenaked Ladies
Space Age Love Song - Flock of Seagulls
Go - Tones on Tails
Xanadu - Olivia Newton John (there is a reason for this one, really!)
Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart - Judy Garland
We've Only Just Begun - The Carpenters
Various tracks by Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Etta James, Sam Cooke etc.

The bride and groom have no specific requirements for music other than it be relatively PG-13 for the kiddies, no country, and no Prince (the bride can't stand him. Besides, I don't see "Get Off" working for cutting the cake).
There needs to be some Michael Jackson.

Previously discussed here.

I'd add "When I'm 64" by John Pizzarelli.

I'd add "When I'm 64" "Happy Together"

Good ones!

I'm thinking you'll need to stick Queen and Abba in there somewhere.

Accidentally in Love by The Counting Crows is cute and happy and appropriate for a wedding. Everyone will think of Shrek.

Not quirky, but definitely play some music that most people are familiar with and is easy to dance to and/or sing to. You want a wedding to be fun (not that your music isn't fun) The kids, and adults, will want to boogie. I'll share some of my fun music. Maybe something will appeal.

Eight Days a Week by The Beatles

"I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)" by The Four Tops (impossible to share this one, unfortunately. I got it from iTunes)

Shake it Up by The Cars

Love Shack by the B52's

My five-year old's current favorite: Do Wah Diddy Diddy

Anything by The Pipettes, especially Pull Shapes.

I'm Your Moon by Jonathan Coulton. Yes, I know it's really about planets, but if you forget that part, and you think of it as two geek minds meeting, it's really a romantic song.

The man I eventually marry will have to be perfectly okay with this being the song we dance to at our wedding.

Yay! Thank you for the ideas! I have dilligently added Michael Jackson's "Rock With You" and was OVERJOYED to discover The Pipettes. Going to check out some of the others when I get home tonight.
