Good things for Monday. What's going right for you today? [More:] A vendor sent us a gift basket, so I got a free bottle of biodynamic/organic red wine and olive oil (from the same vineyard/farm). Score!

In the process of calling around as per my boss's silly instructions, one of the assistants I talked to was just all, "Look, could you send me an email? I can't deal with this over the phone right now." Vindication!

Actually, double-vindication, because the vendor who sent us the gift basket was impressed at how easy we were to work with and how organized we were in scheduling the project -- which I did entirely over email! Bwah ha ha! Take that, Monday morning!
There's plenty of beer in the fridge and a full fifth of Jameson in the kitchen. I aquired my 21000th mp3 through completely legal means (wink) yesterday. I tried a cool new candy the other day and I may go get some more of them later. I found a book with the best. cover. ever. at work the other day.

Seeing my co-worker I haven't seen in awhile (she's been at her home office) lifts my spirits. And apparently we're going to order lunch! Free lunch! I love lunch!

Everything. Except Friday can't get here quickly enough!

Well my day is neutral, so I will share two good things about entities that it would be easy to say bad things about:

One good thing about cats is that their feet look like little biscuts on the end of their little legs.

One good thing about Boy Scouts is that once in awhile they muster up and build a small footbridge in a park. This strikes me as both educational and beneficial to the community at large.

It's very pretty out.

Ha! Another assistant just commented, "I assume you're going to be confirming by email?"

I got up this morning.

Oh, I heard a cuckoo in the forest this morning.

I exercised with a personal trainer this morning. It was great. I feel energized. She is knowledgeable and wasn't crazy, so that was a plus.

I cleaned my kitchen spotless and opened my windows to let some light shine into this cave. Oh, how I love when things are clean and the windows are open. It's like I'm a real person living a real life.

Husband said, "why don't we check out the rates for the Keys". Yes! We will probably be going to the Keys in July. Just the two of us. *crosses fingers that neither of us will lose our minds and bring the kids with us. We have never left them with a sitter overnight, let alone a few days away.

*good for you, occhiblu. I love email, even when making plans with friends. It's more to the point, less wishy-washy guessing game.

It's very nice outside here, too. The recent rains have washed the pollen out of the air and the sky is blue enough that if I were a poet I might use a word like "cerulean" to describe it. It is so nice out that I am motivated to wash the car. This is a pleasant task (it is a small car, I own squeegees and bukkits and car shampoo stuff, and mom can sit outside in a lounge chair and get some sun and tell me all about why I'm washing the car the wrong way).

Just writing that has actually put me in a better mood. Cool.

*on preview*

It's like I'm a real person living a real life.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. I feel EXACTLY the same way. Fake it 'til you make it, honey.

I got those candies. They're like little hand-grenades of yummy artificial flavor.

I'm feeling a little pathetic, actually. Allergies are getting me down.

So instead of yammering on about that for too long, here are some good things.

I have peas in the garden, and I can't get them inside. I just eat them right out in the garden. So sweet!

It rained a lot yesterday. This is a very good thing.

I found a crow feather while I was walking the dogs this morning. I have decided that that, along with the giant moonstone ring I bought Saturday in Franklin, is a Sign and a Portent. Hopefully of good things.

I went out to lunch with an ex-coworker who told me funny stories about her scandalous 6 yr old daughter.

My knife skills are getting to be pretty decent. I just did a mince on an onion that certainly wasn't professional-grade, but for some guy putzing around in his kitchen it was actually good. Yay me.

The power is back up at work, which is nice, and the technician is here to fix the ILLiad/Ariel station that crapped out during Thursday's power outage. (We've had one a day since Thursday. It's making everyone crankypants.)

I slept in, so I'll be 30 minutes late for work. I hate starting the day late, because it sets the scene for the rest of the day.

On the plus side, I'm being amused by people getting on the train and scowling at the dude with the big bag full of surfboards taking up about 6 seats (this train goes to the airport). Where the fuck do they expect him to put them?

Heh. I had a bus driver tell me the other day that people with luggage were not allowed on public transportation. Not "not allowed on this currently very full bus," which I would have understood, but not allowed on public transit at all. I was so confused by the statement that I just stood there making incredulous fish faces until she pulled off.

My blood glucose readings are down about four points from Friday. They're still way high, but going in the right direction. Yay for insulin!

Didn't have a crew to manage, so got a lot done--my hardworking duo had to go to town, and as mentioned previously Herbert High-Maintenance is no longer with us. Mrs. Client brought me fresh coffee and homemade cookies for my morning break and insisted that I eat lunch with them in the kitchen because it was chilly out. (I try to keep a low profile when I'm working as having workers around, no matter how charming and delightful they may be, is disruptive and eventually annoying. I think she just used the temperature to say, 'Hey--you're people, too, and we like you, so come eat at the table with us fer chrissakes.')

Uncle vindicated my firing decision, and was glad that I'd done it while he was away instead of waiting for him to come back and handle it. He's going to talk to Herbert as well, and believe me I'll seem like a pussycat compared to him. (Uncle wanted him gone ages ago.)

Made a delicious chicken salad for dinner with some leftover roast chicken (with the telephonic guidance of BOP, Master of Chicken Salad), and found some yummy cream of tomato-cauliflower soup in the freezer, the last remnant of the autumn harvest.

Both cats came in for the night, so fell asleep in a furry, purry kitteh sandwich.

elizard, pertinent to nothing, other than I just thought of it, I used to paint with a female friend (IMO women are better painters than men), and we used to get half of our payment up front, to buy materials. We got in this pattern where we could buy a gram of coke with this money, and then ration it out through the job. . .one line in the morning, one just after lunch, and one for the road.

That, and Steely Dan on the stereo (this pretty much dates it) made the jobs go very well. The precision of Steely Dan lends itself to precise painting.

(I have always been a total pushover for any woman in the trades. . .)
