3-point Friday update [More:]
1. I'm working from home today and for the first time (through gritted teeth) I'm using a 'remote access token' which allows me to connect to my office email and case management system. It sucks. You can only use it in IE. Also, to set up the RAT you have to disable any anti-virus and firewall, grant permission to every single fucking ActiveX component on the planet and then on the installation page it says "there is a problem with this website's security certificate. We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to the website." You then have to click "continue to this website (not recommended)." And don't forget this is in Internet Explorer too, it doesn't work in Firefox. Needless to say I'll be running full AVG, Zone Alarm, Spybot, Adaware and Pest Patrol scans tonight.

2. As ordered, I remotely accessed my voicemail. There was only one message. It was from a heavy breather. I did not return the call.

3. My hairdresser has worked a miracle. He's cut and highlighted my hair to perfection. And he's so funny. His parting words to me today were "Now, just make sure the rug matches the curtains ..."
1. Boss was tired, so spent the day questioning minor issues and fussing badly and without direction around something that could have waited. Today I should have finished my QuickBooks interface, but instead I ended up arguing about the relative merits of URNs as primary fields.

2. I just ate a mango. I'm sticky but sated.

3. I've the song "Love is a battlefield" stuck imperfectly in my head. No idea why.
We are young"
La la la la la
We stand"
Something, la la la la
We La!
Love is a battledress.

1) There's to be a meeting of me and two trustees tomorrow, this is not common and I'll probably wind up sacked.
2) nevertheless i have an important meeting tonight and monday night as regards the new job
3)i'll be up late tonight trying to get things in order as much as possible.
4) I feel really bad about this but everyone is asking me to carry on as normal. This I will do, but it is difficult and exhausting. I appreciate the opportunity to mention it here.

1. Leaving for a weekend in Ashland later on. A play, and two days of lolling in Lithia Park and wandering around town and sleeping in, etc.

2. My tax rebate was due by today and still has not shown up in my account. I e-filed, and saw no other "opt-in" for getting it back that way, so I am still assuming it's on the way. But a bit paranoid, also.

3. 3x a week volleyball, albeit strenuous, is not keeping weight off. I need to figure out something additional, or eat less.

1. Vacation starts in about four hours. w00t!

2. Uploaded a song to the Nine Inch Nails remix site yesterday.

3. Forgot to bring my lunch today- deciding what will be good (and cheap) that I can buy around here.

BTGoG, I'm sorry to hear about the tension at work -- but remember you have the new job.

1. My pseudo-vacation (that is, "week off" with three meetings and numerous panicked emails from students) is just about over. Good news is that my summer classes only meet 7:30-10 Monday-Thursday in May through July 5, so in-between classes and internship supervision my summer is a pseudo-vacation I get extra pay for.

2. Going up to Des Moines for the farmer's market with my husband tomorrow -- I'd never been, and it's a big and somewhat multi-ethnic farmer's market. I hope to get my fill of Southeast Asian food tomorrow!

3. There is no #3.

1. A few men in different places (work, etc.) keep flirting with me, but when I attempted to go further by asking them out for coffee, they said no (they are not married). Yet, they keep flirting with me. Don't they know that their behavior hurts after such a rejection?

2. I've lost so much weight that all my clothes look baggy, and I'll have to go clothes shopping soon.

3. My friends who are content with their singlehood keep telling me that I should be too, but I'm just not. Not.

2. Reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and really, really want to visit Savannah.

3. Artichokes for dinner - yum!

4. Good luck jessamyn! And melismata, men are usually quite clueless about such things.

1. Breakfast burritos are the best. Lots of avocado, lots of seared vegetables and beans. Mmmm. Spicy.

2. Getting dressed for yesterday's warm weather, I was absurdly surprised (but not terribly upset) to discover that, wow, I'm pretty fat! Am resolved to hit my physical therapy exercises even more vigilantly, to do more of my errands on foot, and to start taking a walk every evening. Starting tonight!

3. I spent yesterday afternoon helping at my sister's bakery. An extra pair of hands (and a well-timed delay by one customer) took her from floundering in the weeds to relaxing in the evening sun. That feels good, though my back is screaming at me today.

1// Have a bunch of work to do this morning because we are closing the office at 11.30 for May Clean Up Day: we'll be picking up garbage until it's all picked up, then going home early!

2// Driving 4 hours south to Homer immediately after leaving work early. Will be eating the best burger known to man for dinner, then some family meeting at my grandparents' house tomorrow involving money that I'm really, really dreading.

3// I think I'll go get some cereal.

1. Inspired by Elsa to think about urban walks for these warm evenings

2. Winding down after not-too-taxing work week

3. Stir-fry chicken for dinner. maybe also a bit of wine. yum.

1. Have to work tomorrow which means going in a car with coworkers 2 hours to Franklin gem & mineral show, schlepping boxes of rocks (literally!) and then back into car for 2 hours home. Dreading tomorrow.

2. Depressed as fuck. Trying to look on the bright side of things and realizing my life is pretty good compared to almost everyone else in the world and so on is NOT helping.

3. This Weight Watchers frozen entree is quite disgusting.

1. goo, Savannah is one of my favorite places. Also, some of the characters in the film version of that book are real Savannah folks playing themselves.

2. I have been wholly unproductive all week, and it will catch up with me later in the month.

3. I am in serious diet and exercise mode, as I am going to be in a situation where I may be expected to wear a bathing suit in about a month, and I am not doing that at my current winter weight.

1. Sunday mr. taz leaves for Crete for a couple of weeks shooting a short film; tomorrow (Saturday) he finishes the film he's working on now.

2. Even though he's been working in town, I usually see him for about only a half-hour every day, six days a week, so I'm missing him even though he's here, and now he won't even be here for a half hour every day.

3. I thought I would have a dog to distract me mightily from this, but adopting a rescue dog has somehow turned into an epic saga. Boo.

but when the mr. taz does get back home, things are free for a bit until the next thing, and we plan to have a small holiday on an island, so it's okay. But I still want the dog. Give me the dog now.

1. Dreading the Mother's Day visit tomorrow. Mom + Nursing Home + $80 or more in gas + decay and decline + cafeteria food. I am a bad daughter.

2. Should be working very hard, under a deadline.

3. Wondering about the weather.

1. My nephew is back in town, so on weekends we’re working on the car project. It’s fun, but a PITA at times because everything is rusted and corroded. And, we keep finding more stuff to fix. Looking forward to tomorrow.
2. Was going to visit w/ MIL on Sunday, but she’s not up to it. Her daughter will be with her, so I don't feel too about it.
3. Boss is grumpy – home stuff I suppose.

2. I'm going to ride my bike to the fabric store for a new sewing machine foot.

3. The ants that plague this house are interested in something in the kitchen sink. I let them go there, then when they've amassed very many of them, I turn it on, hot.

1. I went to bed early last night (for a day when I'm not working) and woke up 12 hours later, even after being interrupted 3 times by my mother trying to get me to go somewhere with her.

2. I have some serious thinking about important things to do today and I hope that I can make some sense of all these crazy thoughts that have been flitting around for the past month or so.

3. Something is going to be put up on the Twilight official movie page at 3 and I'm very excited to see what it could be, even if it is just the teaser trailer that came out on Monday.

1) I actually went *gasp* for a WALK this afternoon at lunchtime. I never. walk. anywhere! It was just too pretty to pass up tho, and there were lilacs and tulips and beds full of flowers and brand new fuzzy green leaves to enjoy, and lots of nice things to hear and smell.

2) They just put the adorable fat golden FISH back in our FISH POND at work! Yay! FISH! The plantsite has a complex and ornate arboretum-like landscaped park in front that's won heaps of city council awards and is gorgeous all year 'round (but particularly now). I only hope that Mr. Fox, who's been hanging 'round the plantsite recently, doesn't get the urge to go fishing...

3) I feel bouncy like a Tigger!

update: it looks like I won't get my walk after all, since it's going to rain this evening and I want very much to stay dry.

Instead, I make this public pledge: I will put on a movie and spend the entire duration of it working on my exercise ball. Go, me!

3. Such beautiful weather here lately.

1. Joined Mr. V on a trip to the oncologist today. News is still up in the air. His MRI showed tiny nodules in his lungs, but due to the mistrust on the hospital who performed the first MRI back in November, we don't know if these tiny nodules were there before or not. The oncologist is having his radiologist read these latest MRI's (done at a better place and in great detail). Will let us know by Tuesday.

2. Drinking margaritas. Need alcohol.

3. Being upbeat because I will worry myself to pieces and crumble if I am not.

Bonus extra three:

1. You're on, Elsa- currently I'm into the treadmill because I can measure exactly what I'm doing. 40 mins@5.5km/h today.

2. Drinking amaretto+vodka over ice

3. In a darkened kitchen, reading mecha on my phone, staking out the cat. He ate his food stealthily while I was watching Peep Show.

1. Took a mental health day today. So, so nice to sleep the afternoon away.

2. Making spicy chicken & beans over rice tonight. I'm improvising. I have these two cans of pinto beans in a spicy sauce, and I thought they might be tasty stir-fried with some cut up boneless chicken, with lots and lots of garlic, of course.

3. Going up to Connecticut tomorrow to see my mom, who's 92 (my adopted mom). Gonna take her out to lunch, and I'm bringing her a Junior's cheesecake. She loves cheesecake, and I love the guilty look she gives after she takes her first bite. Very cute.

2. Pips, can you come with me to see my mom tomorrow, too? And bring her some cheesecake? Even without the cheesecake, I bet you'd get along famously, and I could just, like, sit there, and be like, "See? I brought you Pips!"
3. She's really a very nice woman, I just never got her. ****siiiigh**** Anybody? In the North of DC/ East of Baltimore area? Just kidding, but Heeeeelllpp!!!! I have the serious dread.

2. My son is arriving HERE late this evening to attend his friend's wedding tomorrow, then flies out early Sunday. I go see him graduate at the end of the month, so this feels a bit like cheating.
3. I won't get to go to tomorrow's wedding altho I am invited. See number one above.

(I'd be honored, rainbaby... other people's parents are almost always easier than one's own, I think. As much as I love my mom, if I'm with her more than a day, I start hearing about my hair and *ahem* waistline. Though that seems to have toned down some these last years. Sorry to hear your mom's in a nursing home. Any way you could take her out for a bit? I've logged a lot of hours with my mom in nursing homes after her various part-replacements/surgeries, and it used to give me a knot in my stomach just walking in there sometimes.)

Update on #2: the chicken, beans, and rice came out yummy. Kind of like the inside of a burrito. My better half seems pleased.

1. Kitten is exercising her Siamese genes by yowling and yowling and yowling and yowling and YOWLING because I won't let her out. I won't let her out because she hasn't been home since Tuesday, and when she does this I worry about her reverting to feralness. A friend came to visit and she got all skittish and wouldn't come in until last night. You're staying in kitteh. Get used to it.

2. Bought some eggs from a friend's farm down the road. Made mayonnaise with a couple of them. It is so. fucking. good. Resisting urge to eat mayo with a spoon.

3. Putting in a bid for a job today, my first bid ever. If all goes well it would be perfect--starts at the end of this job and ends in time for me to leave for Alabama with a wad of cash in my pocket. Nervous and excited and stuff. Wish me luck!
