One of my favorite easy recipes [More:]And Hewlett Packard places an ad there. Very clever. We waste ink printing that purple ad out so we can buy more HP ink. I won't fall for it!

I'm actually making this for my husband and kids tonight. I'm going to a belated Cinco de Mayo/Bunco night for Mexican.

What are you having?
If the air conditioner is fixed: Grilled steaks, probably. It's summer-time here, and we grill 3 or 4 days a week now.

If the air conditioner is still broken: we'll probably go out to eat, because it's summer-time here and therefor 100° indoors.

Leftover pizza. But Saturday is a mad cooking day: salted cashew cookies, cranberry shortbreads, sage biscuits (all for mother's day brunch) espresso-mole (vegetarian) chili, carrot-tahini spread, some sort of curry, brown rice and muhammara (for the week's eating).

I'm having chicken. Kinda boring. But . . . this recipe looks real good. Turkey chilli is a staple for me. This one goes on the shopping list.

I'll probably stir-fry whatever vegetables are around. It's my turn to cook.

Something from the farmers' market. Probably a corndog.

This is what i did but in larger quantity as a big package of chicken thighs is still really cheap. i can't remember where i found it. i mail myself recipes.

INGREDIENTS:
4 pieces bone-in chicken breast-halves and legs in any combination
2 tablespoons light vegetable or olive oil for basting
Marinade:
3/4 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons lemon juice
4 cloves garlic, peeled
1-inch piece of peeled, fresh ginger
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon red food coloring (optional)
2 tablespoons. yellow food coloring (optional)
Coarse salt to taste

Pull the skin off chicken pieces and trim fat. Prick the flesh and make diagonal slashed, 1-inch apart using a paring knife. Set aside in a bowl. Mix all the ingredients of the marinade in an electric blender or a food processor and process until thoroughly pureed. Pour the marinade over chicken, toss and rub, to coat thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.

Preheat oven to 500 degrees F. Place chicken in a single layer over a rack positioned in sheet pan. Bake in the middle of the oven for 25 minutes, basting once with marinade juices and oil, or until cooked. Serve immediately, accompanied with Pan-Roasted Potatoes and Onions with Cumin and Indian Salsa.

Yield: 4 servings

Holy crap. I've never seen food coloring measured in tablespoons before.
posted by mudpuppie 07 May | 17:39
Why would you even want to add food coloring to anything that isn't an easter egg?
posted by dabitch 07 May | 17:56
i didn't use the food coloring or measure, because that's me. And i added curry powder, so it was yellow.
posted by ethylene 07 May | 17:56
srsly, if you want yellow find some turmeric powder. Doesn't taste much but colors like nobody's buisiness.

I plan on boiling some fresh Alaskan King Crab tonight because it's quick and easy and I have other things I want/need to do before my trip this weekend.

We waste ink printing that purple ad out so we can buy more HP ink.

I see no ad, but just in case:
PROTIP#1: Always print in B&W, and if you can read it, use the "draft" (or equivalent) setting.
PROTIP#2: Aardvark. Takes a little bit of getting used to, but after a day or so, you'll never again waste toner on something you didn't want to print. Works great with Google Maps, for example.

Sammiches of some sort.

PS: Lori - what was the response to the new Bunco trophy?

PPS: I don't see the ad either, yay Firefox!

Leftover Daddy's Noodles (for the kids) and leftover tacos for me.

The ad is there for me. Maybe it has something to do with cookies? I have no idea. I'm on Safari. Hmm...

The Bunco trophy went over quite well. Everybody screeched with glee.

Tonight I had the best meal: chicken enchiladas, a corn salsa mixed with tomatoes, cilantro, green onions, and cilantro, another awesome salsa made with shrimp, and fresh jalepenos stuffed with raspberry jam, cream cheese, wrapped with prosciutto and baked, and Corona's of course!
