I was sad to see an article about steampunk subculture in this month's Spin Magazine. I'm not a fan myself, but I do appreciate the culture and aesthetic. The Spin article was like:

Spin: "What are you?"
Guy: "I'm an orthinopter pilot."
Spin: "Oh, did you make that get-up just for this party?"
Guy: "No, my good man. I have built many orthinopters."
Spin: "Oh... uhm, I'll go talk to that person over there."

Spin: "Hello, pretty lady, it looks like you are some sort of techno vampire hooker woman."
Lady: "Uhhm, do you get the concept of steampunk at all?"
Spin: "No, we just like to pretend that we're relevant!"

how bizarre... I just went to a steampunk theme night not long ago. I should post pics (when I get them off the camera).

I may be involved in a longer-term steampunk themed project with a craftsperson I know, a leather and armor maker, and a photographer. It will either be a chaotic mess as we're all hanging out/video game/ drinking buddies, or completely awesome.
