Lost. (not the show). [More:] All I seem to dream about for months now is being lost and/or late. Mostly driving, sometimes on foot or once, on a boat. I know this is a common dream (lack of direction in life), and while anxiety causing before the wake up moment, not unpleasant before them. Well, up and down moments. An interesting quest, an interesting cast of characters, some frustrations.

I've had these dreams off and on for most of my life, but this is getting so repetitive - what is so urgent that I need to move toward that my subconscious is doing me like this?

If I'm having another mid-life crisis, I'd prefer to do it in my waking hours, k? thnks.
i've been having these amazing dreams in what is suppose to be Queens or Brooklyn. Last night's was pretty cool until the alarm went off, Sometimes they are post apocalyptic and horrifying.

i just did that thing people do where they start talking about their own dreams when someone mentions their dreams.

At least you weren't stuck in institutional bathrooms. i'm not sure what that one's about.

I have the institutional bathrooms dream alot. It's always when I have to pee (I know, because I wake up right after them and get up to go).

I'm having the lost/rushing to get to a plane dream a lot too. I think you're right about the lack of direction theory. Either that or lack of (perceived) control. It's definitely not feeling in control for me at the moment. So rainbaby, your blue is the same as my blue, :)

I HATE the institutional disgusting bathroom dreams! Well thanks, eth, now that'll come into play. Although I find it usually means I have to pee.

That's more that fine, eth, talk about them. I'm not really looking for interp or advice, but if someone wants to taht's fine. I just wanted to whinge about my dreams, in hopes that they will change.

I was trying to get to the airport last night, chewie. Maybe we need to book a flight to somewhere fun!

I constantly dream that I'm back in my final semester of college and about the fail multiple classes due to non-attendance. :(

i have that one too, mullac, where i haven't gone to some class all year. What is that about?
Also lots of moving and having to pack.
Then there's the have to overthrow the evil something/ subvert the government ones and the futuristic mall ones, super luxury hotels and an endless superhighway/train that takes me from San Francisco to Chicago to New York. Apparently the station over the desert has one hell of a museum.

Oh, man, I HATE that one, mullacc. I get that one fairly often.

I don't really get the "lost" dreams, that I can remember. On the contrary, my frustrating dreams usually involve being stuck somewhere. In the last one, I was in a huge TV studio audience where a show was about to be taped, and I was holding my cat, who was pissed and and squirming and wanted me to put her down, but I knew I couldn't because I'd never find her again in the crowd.

I used to own an old 3-on-the-column Chevy van. I had a recurring dream, for a lot of years, where I was driving this van, and it was stuck in reverse, and I had no idea what was back there or if I'd hit it and just tried to steer it and look back as best I could.

It's even scaring me to type about it right now, and it's been years since I have had this dream.

But if you have ever driven a 70's vintage Chevy van, you know it's not picnic backing one up. Try going like 40mph in reverse, with no brakes and no way to shift. That was my dream for a long time.

Oh man, I have the trying-to-get-to-the-airport dream a LOT. Something's always wrong with the suitcase, or the clothes are still in the washer, or I lost my itinerary, or we can't find the airport, or it's the wrong day, or....

Lately I've been having lots of death dreams. Like as in, there's a serial killer on the loose and I'm trying to hide from them.

Hey subconscious, if you're trying to tell me something, I don't know what it is.

My dreams lately have been filled with terrible mutant plague-creatures and running from them. I know exactly what my subconscious is trying to tell me, and I don't like it.

Ooh, danf, I used to have that one, usually combined with being on slippery ground, or on a river bank. I had other out-of-control-themed dreams, too--driving a bus while fighting with a passenger, in a public place with my teeth falling out. Somewhat predictably, as soon as I got a divorce from my controlling, micro-managing wife, those dreams stopped.

I used to have the unprepared-for-class dream, too, when I had a job that I felt unprepared for.

Now my only recurring dream is the one where I can fly, usually just a few inches above the ground, almost like I'm on ice or Wheelies or something. I love that dream. Maybe I should buy Wheelies.

I dreamt that I had a rifle which dispensed postage stamps.

It still fired bullets -- it just had a slot in the stock from which postage stamps would issue forth whenever the trigger was pulled.

I was worried that I'd need to keep firing bullets to get all the stamps I needed.

I guess I should go buy stamps.

I have this recurring semi-flying dream where I jump then do *something* (I don't know quite what, but it's kinda like briefly treading water in mid-air) before hitting the ground. Once I do that thing, I don't quite hit the ground. If I time instances of doing-that-thing just right, then I can stay afloat indefinitely. Not only that, the jumps can build off of one another, and soon I'm flying much higher than I'm comfortable with, but feeling quite exhilarated by flying so high.

And, getting back on topic (somewhat), I sometimes have these dreams where I don't fully remember who I am. Last night, I'd moved to Virginia, and was living with relatives I didn't know I had, and kept trying to piece my life history together from what my relatives told me about it. And here's what's disturbing to me -- that feeling of not knowing who I am persisted when I woke up. There was this creepy moment of not knowing whether the reality I woke up to was the right one.

Well it worked. No dreams of transport. Not pleasant dreams, much chasing, many issues, but at least I wasn't driving, or late. Thanks for the forum.
