To New Beginnings HAPPY BIRTHDAY MYGOTHLAUNDRY! YAY!
I once read that the month before one's birthday is supposed to be the most difficult of the year. Which means the universe should start easing up on you, starting today.
And if it doesn't, the universe and I will have some talking to do, I tell you what.
Happy birthday, dollface! Hope it's swell --- you deserve swell, and sweller than swell.
And if it doesn't, the universe and I will have some talking to do, I tell you what.
And I will be standing behind occhiblu while she gives the universe a talking-to, gently tapping the sweet end of a baseball bat into my cupped palm. Subtle, yes? Got it, universe? Do we have an understanding, universe?
Hey, happy birthday to you. Really. Since they haven't worked out the process for posting beer, I guess this little number will have to do.
"What doesn't kill me makes me stronger." Nietzsche said that. Of course he's dead now, but let's put that aside for the moment, since the basic sentiment there is, I believe, true. Also, I'm sure Carolyn Mark wouldn't mind if you borrowed "I'm more in love with this cigarette than I'll ever be with you" from the above song, when needed. (Another potentially handy line: "I know how much you hate it when I tell you what to do / but read my lips, you fucker - chew that gum again, we're through".)
Science Girl and I send our best wishes for the coming year, and all the ones afterward.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MyGothLaundry! I am so glad you're here. Since ... well for years anyway... I've always look forward to your posts and comments. I hope you post for years and years and years more.
Thanks, y'all! I did have a good birthday after all - my kids took me out to brunch and then some friends had a dinner party for me which was really wonderful. And I got a whole bunch of wonderful presents, yay presents!, so birthdays are pretty awesome after all.
You know, people casually say things online like 'you're my hero' and sometimes it's just a nice way of saying 'I like you'. But you, mgl, really ARE a hero of mine. A compatriot in arms, kind of. Keeping the home and the kids together, and being joyfully, wonderfully, always, yourself. I have just the one kid, and a place to live that in terms of security I might as well own, so I look up to you and all you have accomplished with your kids and your house and your dogs and your elegant, intelligent writing. For realz.
