2. I saw the funeral cortège for the young man killed in this accident today. There were probably 150 bikers accompanying the hearse. It was an awesome and very moving sight.

3. It's a holiday weekend here, which means that if the weather is even halfway decent, the roads that lead anyway nice will be clogged. I think I'll stay close to home this weekend.

1. Should be on holidays, but I have to go into the office tomorrow to sign off on the payroll, sign the overtime forms and write a report (le sigh). But then - off til the 14th! So still feeling slightly holiday-ish, and I'm using the last of my annual leave next week (something I haven't done since I've been in the UK - last year I lost 15 days) so I'm happy.

2. Dreading this afternoon when we take our 2 cats to the vet for their annual checkup. One of the cats has had a variety of problems for a while (a dozen vet visits over the past 2 years and she gets 3 meds a day) and I'm pretty sure that today we're going to have to make a decision we hoped we wouldn't have to make for a while. After almost 13 years together, I can't imagine the other cat (Charlie Hodges) is going to be without his sister (Chinaski). For the past few weeks I've mentally prepared for this, but now that it's closing in I'm starting to get a huge pit in my stomach.

3. Like most other people here today, having a hard time focusing on work.

1. I need to get my bank account all figured out and reconsiled with my budget (somehow I'm missing $50, wtf?)

2. I also need to get some sort of housing figured out for my friend and I for our vacation (we were going to go to New Orleans, but she can't afford plane tickets and now we are looking at NYC, Philly, or Williamsburg).

3. I really, REALLY need to clean up my room and start throwing things out, especially if I may be moving on the fly in a few months. (I'm so excited to finally be able to GTFO, but the actual conversation with my parents isn't going to be pretty.)

1. I've been waking up progressively earlier each day - today it was 7:30. Given that I go to bed between 2 and 2;30, this is distnctly Not Good.

2. Post-nasal drip: despite the charming name, it's really no fun.

3. Tomorrow is Opening Day for boat season, so we're gonna try to make it down to the Montlake Cut for the crew races. (Science Girl used to race, back in high school.) And then tomorrow night is Sonic Reducer Live at the High Dive. I don't usually have much use for KEXP, but: A) Punk Rock radio show - what's not to like; B) Science Girl and Brian go way back, and he's one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet; and C) I just found out that Skullbot is opening, and I loves me some stoner rock, yes I do.

1: Hoooooooooooliday! Holiday starts today! Two weeks off, 10 days of which are with Specklet in Florida with her family!

1. Finally replaced my digital camera today.

1a. Am now itching to go out and take some pics, but it's getting dark.

2. Lately I've had Explosions In The Sky on infinite repeat here at home.

3. We're going to order Chinese food for dinner. It will def. include steamed pot stickers.

1. I hate standardized tests. Prepping my juniors for the SAT Saturday and seniors for the AP English Literature tests next week is a major pain in the ass. Especially when all our school copiers (all two of them) are on the fritz (I spent thirty bucks on copies the other day, gad dangit). My juniors are also watching Platoon, however, having finished reading Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried. Fucking awesome.

2. Saw two very attractive young women kissing on the train today. One was asian and boyish, though pretty, and the other was tall and slender, with shoulder-length dirty blonde hair, no make-up. I could tell they were a couple as soon as they got on. The blonde sat, and the asian girl stood near her. The blonde was showing her a bunch of stuff she'd gotten in a gift bag. Later, I saw them kiss over the back of orange subway seats. It was a nice moment.

3. This morning I called Jon to put the defrosted brisket in the fridge, which I'd forgotten to do. I'm such a Jew.

1. Finished another essay! That leaves six pages left to write before I'm blessedly done for the summer!

2. Tonight I get to watch either Pulp Fiction or House of Games. Or both! And paint my toenails! Or whatever I want! I have the place to myself for the weekend while The Fella visits his brother. Yeah, I can do whatever I want when he's here, too, but being alone is different! And kinda weird.

3. Chinese take-out leftovers are calling my name. I'm going to doll them up with extra broccoli, dressed with sesame oil. Oh. I think I skipped lunch. DOY!

2.Went to Israeli-themed shabbat.

Discovered that the woman who I thought was the (female) rabbi's partner (who I can't stand--when I first started going to services she assumed that I didn't know what to do for kiddush and she grabbed me after giving me a hard time when I hadn't brought something for a potluck on Simchat Torah. The best way to get on my shit list is to fail to respect my boundaries.)isn't and is not gay. Have decided that it's best to keep my distance. I still don't know whether or not the rabbi prefers women. It doesn't matter.
