OMG I HATE DIRECTV HATE HATE HATE!!!!! As mentioned yesterday, we've been watching the encore of "John Adams" on HBO... well, all of it except for the final episode, which DirecTV, for reasons unknown, declined to record, despite the series being prioritized at #1. It's not going to be repeated again till June. Grrr.
I'm sorry, scody. It's been awhile since I read the book, but if memory serves he dies at the end. (Oooh, I hope I didn't spoil anything for you.)

He dies at the - god damnit.

So that whole plot line about him and Jefferson making a time machine to escape to the 20th century is just a red herring? Dammit.

Sounds like the perfect ethical justification for downloading it via Bit Torrent.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

The time machine works, but they accidentally set the controls for a time before the earth's crust had hardened and there wasn't really much of an atmosphere, either. It's rather grisly; be glad you missed it.

You people and your goofy fake spoiler.
We all know Adams is still alive.

Only spoilers if one hasn't read the bio:

The mastectomy scene was handled quite well...as were the scenes depicting Adams' and Jefferson's reconciliation.

You hate me now! ;-)

It's never lupus!

They reconciled. And then they fought a yeti.

And then the ewoks fucking jammed out.

I am happy that Ben Frankln invented HBO on Demand for those of us with digital cable so we don't need to worry about finicky DVRs. I didn't know it was Franklin that did this, but it was a throwaway line Jefferson said in one of his letters to Adams toward the end of the last episode.
