I just ate four artichokes for breakfast. No butter. Just straight up. What about you?
Cornflakes with skim milk and cold tea to drink.

Protein shake, same as always: three oranges, two bananas, two scoops of vanilla Pro Complex, with a dash of raspberry Crystal Light for a water/flavor base. Tasty!

Coffee and plain instant oatmeal with half a packet of Sweet N Low! I usually avoid the pink stuff, but I'm work. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

2 fried eggs
2 little breakfast sausages
2 leaves of red-leaf lettuce
2 slices of toast + honey
cup o coffee

That sounds really tasty, danf.

I eat pretty much the same thing every morning: 1/2 cup of strawberry yogurt with a bunch of bran flakes mixed in (mmm... regularity). I'll drink a diet coke and sometimes eat a granola bar a few hours later.

And Oh, My, artichokes might just be the perfect veg.

Some highlights from the USDA Nutrient Database:

4 Medium Artichokes, cooked and drained, unsalted
254 Calories
13.8 grams protein
12.63 g fat
41.3 g fiber
57.36 g carbs
(4.75 g sugars)

Fat--made a mistake. That's supposed to say 1.26 grams, NOT 12.

I slept late (heavenly!), so I'm just now thinking about breakfast. I'm falling into the spring and summer routine of a cold breakfast:

- smoothie (half a cup each frozen strawberries and blueberries, the tiny ones from Maine, a big spoonful of yogurt, and a splash of OJ)
- toast with hippie peanut butter
- iced espresso
- a pint of ice water

But artichokes sound great for breakfast! Another common springtime breakfast for me is blanched asparagus dressed simply with a sliver of butter, kosher salt, and pepper, with pita toasted crisp so it'll soak up the tiny reservior of peppery asparagus juice in the dish.

Shredded wheat and whole milk
Coffee with brown sugar, which I am still in the process of drinking

Two big glasses of water, two pieces of multigrain toast with organic PB and a banana mashed over top. And my pre-natal vitamins. (one of which is the only fish oil capsule I've ever taken that doesn't repeat on me - yay enteric coating!)

Black coffee and cigarettes.
posted by mygothlaundry 01 May | 10:15
Actually, MGL, add both of those things to my breakfast too, only change the black coffee to have splenda and soymilk in it.

I quit smoking Aug 2006, but then last fall I got some depression goin' on, and slowly but surely began again. OOF. So I smoked my last 3 cigs this morning with coffee before leaving for work. I'm dying, but I won't give in, dammit.

Tea and cigarettes, as usual. I'm hooked on these Strawberry Banana Smoothies, and will usually finish a bottle over the course of the morning, which is stupid 'cause I really should be making them at home rather than spending five bucks a day to make sure I get my froots and potassium. But I don't, 'cause I suck at mornings and would rather spend time on the internet than muck about with a blender and stuff. (Mine are 1/2 banana; frozen fruit of some sort--was blueberries from last year, now it's peaches; plain yoghurt; oj.) I'll probably have some beef jerky some time mid-morning.

Mmmmm...artichokes...

I had porridge for breakfast, a pear mid-morning, cottage cheese, banana and apple for lunch. Gallons of coffee throughout the day.

I just got home from work and am eating a bowl of home-made vegetable soup.

I make a big pot of soup once a week, keep it in little tupperwares in the fridge, and as soon as I get in from work I heat one up and scarf it down. It fills me up for an hour or so, and stops me from wolfing a slab of cheese or half a roast chicken as soon as I walk through the door. Then, with the hunger edge taken off, I can think about having a healthy dinner.

Warm Dr. Pepper from last night and a junior coffeecake thing. I was too lazy to get my one remaining string cheese from the fridge (plus that would've required interacting with my mother, who doesn't seem to understand the whole 'I don't function until I've been awake for a while and had a piss and some caffeine' concept.)
