Paul Westerberg wasn't the only talented songwriter in the Replacements. Tommy Stinson had his moments, too. Here's some selections from his post-'Mats band, Bash & Pop: Hang Ups. Never Aim To Please. Friday Night (Is Killing Me). Good rockin' stuff in a Stonesy/Faces way.
Side note: I was just thinking that my three favorite bands (the Replacements, the Dictators and the Ramones) have several things in common. They all played short, catchy, guitar-based songs. They all were somewhat misfits even in the scenes they were putatively part of, and they all wrote self-deprecating lyrics that celebrated being a fuckup.

Also, Friday night, Handsome Dick told me that he's voting for Barack Obama for president because Bruce Springsteen said he should.
