three point status update I've determined that the problem at my job is that none of the principals leaves any time for thought, discussion and reflection.→[More:]

My cat allergies seem to be decreasing - is this real, or is my cold masking the allergy symptoms?

At work.

Thinking about all of the things I have to do to get ready for this weekend.

I'm doing some upper arm exercises with a pair of free weights at my desk. Working in wellness has its perks.

1. A week and a half before the seminar I am helping administrate. Realizing that herding participants makes herding cats look easy.

2. Realizing that a high carb diet and fewer trips to the gym do NOT equal weight loss.

3. Hillary will be in town today. I won't be going to see her. She won't mind.

1. Opening night for West Side Story was last night (I'm playing trumpet in the orchestra) and it took two hours after the show ended to shed the adrenaline. Alice woke me up before 6.

1. Finishing a small work project today... came in late, knowing that I'll probably be here a little late.

2. I don't know if it's spring causing this or what, but I have a million little things that need doing/cleaning around the house, but all I want to do is hang out on the deck.

3. Busy weekend coming up, getting ready for upcoming camping trip- w00t!

1. Headache. Got it yesterday, still have it. Sigh.

2. Son is sick again. He never seems to get THAT sick but he surely has caught every small virus he comes across this year. Sigh.

3. A million things to do at home and at work and yet all I want to do is sleep or surf the net. Sigh.

1. Finals start next week.
2. 25% of the Foundations and Careers class (not even my class, but I'm the tech-savvy person in the department) did not read the instructions I wrote (with screen caps) on how to do their Powerpoint portfolios correctly, so I will be meeting with them for remediation over the next couple days.

1) water main break = no water at the house for the past 2 mornings. there's a big yellow backhoe in the street digging ginormous holes, tho, and some guys standing around looking in the holes. no word on when it'll be fixed.

2) thank buddha for our swanky shower facilities at work. We'll check into a hotel tonight if the water thing's not sorted.

3) finished another section of our quality audit yesterday; they put me in charge of this one, which was scary (I am so not a manager). I got some great feedback from my summary report tho, and they seem to think I didn't screw anything up, so hopefully I can parse this deal into some form of fabu-riffic review / resume highlight.

1. Just took my first sip of tea aaaaaand the milk's off. Luckily I have a bottle of whole milk that I bought to make gelato, and can spare enough for this morning's two pots of tea.
2. Weather's looking good for work today, and maybe even tomorrow. (We don't generally get accurate forecasts for here so even a day in advance is pretty iffy, but I can hope.)
3. Thighs and arms are still incredibly sore from working over my head in awkward spaces on a roof all day Tuesday, more awkward roof work today. Hello, ibuprofen, my trusted friend.

The people upstairs finally got around to letting me know that they are doing work in their place (which started in October!) and want to come in to take pictures. I DON'T like this at all--I'm like the French in saying one has to be very special to me before they're let into my space--but given that I insisted on coming in to take pics of their space before I started work on my kitchen, I have to let them do this. I am a rotten slob whose place looks like the Collyer brothers, but I've managed to hold them at bay until Tuesday so I can straighten up.

The work in the kitchen was stalled again because of miscommunication.

My birthday weekend plans are still up in the air; I asked my father if he'd rather see a matinée or evening show and he still hasn't gotten back to me. He also wants to see my cousins in Princeton--one of whom has Parkinson's and can't come into the city.

Update update. My guitar lesson went pretty well. Strumming shit in rhythm properly and changing chords quickly enough is hard. Alistair is damn fucking good and he's a good teacher, too. I have tingly fingers. Oh well.

when I get calluses am I going to lose some of my superior typing skills?

Kitten update: They are sleeping. They spent their morning tear-assing around the house in an epic chase scene. It is hilarious.

1. What is this memail all the kids are suddenly talking about? I must be looking at the wrong thing, I don't get it. Or, perhaps I just don't get it.

2. I love when the cat wakes me up at four and I can't go back to sleep and the man's alarm goes from five to six on ten minute snoozes, and I have been awake too long. And I think "I wish I lived alone" and then I think "No, you don't really, you just wish you were asleep."

3. I have a social obligation tonight that I don't want to keep, but can't see getting out of.

1. No more assistant. Office is quiet and lovely. I am getting a lot done.
2. Arms are getting big and muscley from pushup training program.
3. Must start planning trip to VT- it's only one month away!

1. Work is insane. Poor management of expectations at the initial stage results in anger directed at everyone at my level. Requests for this to be addressed are waved away.

2. But I am not back in the office until Tuesday.

1. Bought underwear, sandals and a bra. Yay.
2. Put my mother's new bed together.
3. Mother is cooking fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy because I put her new bed together.
3b. Which means I have to go back over there but I think I can make that sacrifice.

1) Looks like it's gonna be a light night at work, so plenty of time to play Disgaea on my PSP

2) I've had stomach cramps since I got up but will still be eating a big bowl of rice and paneer curry for dinner tonight

3) Crazy weekend coming up - getting picked up at noon on Saturday for a double DVD taping for SHIMMER, then driving straight to Missouri (6 hours away) for a NWA TV taping the next day, then straight back to Chicago, then straight back to work. Hooray!
