New, free, NIN single The embedded data in the track says to go to NIN.com on 5th May. Hopefully there'll be more NIN goodness then.
New NIN already? I just got the CD of Ghosts in the mail this month.
I wonder if we're looking at the beginning of a period for Reznor that's similar to TAFKAP*-period Prince: decent but prolific output that would have benefited from some careful winnowing. Not that I won't buy whatever he puts out anyway.
I've seen the TAFKAP comparison somewhere else. Ghosts was okay - it certainly grew on me but, yeah, it could have done with some editing. Still, if you went for the download only, $5 is a bargain for two hours of music, PDF booklet and so on. I'm still waiting on the CD of Ghosts; I got the CD + download option as I didn't know if the CD would be released anywhere other than via nin.com. As it turns out, Ghosts is buyable on CD from amazon.co.uk and it would have been here by now if I'd have ordered it from them.
It'll be interesting to see what happens on the 5th. Maybe it'll be a full new NIN album - apparently they're about to announce a tour. Robin Finck (sp?) has apparently just left GNR to rejoin NIN.
Yeah, I know what you mean. When I've got my iPod/iTunes on shuffle and a Ghosts track comes on, I'm almost always pleasantly surprised. I still miss the NIN of The Downward Spiral and Broken (and, most of The Fragile); I think we'll never see those days again.
About two years ago, I was speaking with a 21 year old American Male, and I asked him, somehow, was NIN Old People's Music, and he said, "Yeah, Kinda, Yeah."
