Let's try this again. My first scheduled day of jury duty was partially borked by the CTA mess and then cut short when the civil case for which I was supposed to serve was settled out of court. I am scheduled to report again tomorrow.
The people I saw interviewed on TV about the CTA breakdown said things like, "They told us not to get out of the train [in the middle of the tunnel while the third rail was on], but we did anyway." It took me an hour and a half to get to the courthouse. Lame. On the bright side, I was only there an hour before they told us we could go, so I wasn't waiting the full two hours.
I'm less excited about going tomorrow though - I've got a ton of things to do at work and my manager hasn't called back to let me know she got my message about not showing up.
