Quick Ask Mecha, for UK eyes only: How to format the date on a desk calendar?[More:]

All our UK people are at their homes and the US office is throwing together a last minute project for them (regarding the bank holiday on Monday)...

Should a desk calendar visual be:

5
May

or

May
5

?
5 May.

Yes, we say the date right here - day, month, year. I've never understood why the US puts the month first. Whenever there's reference to 9/11, I wonder for a second what happened on 9 November.

thanks. if somebody double-checks this, that is vertical association as well, right? i know horizontal is 5 May instead of May 5.

Yep. Either way it's 5 May.

Yes, we say the date right here - day, month, year.

YEAR FIRST.
2008.04.18 + 1 day = 2008.04.19

(Note, outside information architecture and computer systems, it's best to respond to someone who asks you the date conversationally with the day of the week, the numerical date, the month, and the year; in that order. Unless they are a time traveler, that is the priority in which they will want the information.
