This is the saddest thing I've read in awhile. I don't know, whenever kids are involved, it always gets to you. And this time, they were on their way to school, to give their last exam, before the summer holidays would've begun, and they could've started to enjoy themselves. Fuck.
oh no, it's that bus accident I couldn't even bare to watch on the news last night isn't it? I swear the announcer just managed to get the first line out and tears welled up in my eyes and I had to quickly change the channel. too many sad things in the world - I don't dare click that link.

I'm surprised by how much wide-spread coverage this has gotten abroad. It's not like kids don't die here every day because of some reason or another. But this incident was a little unique because of the number of victims involved, and almost all of them being kids.

That aside, I wonder how much the fact that they were on their way to school has an impact on peoples feelings. A year or two ago, a little girl who must've been in 1st or 2nd class was mowed down by a truck driver while she was crossing the road, and it had also gotten a lot of press.

Multiply that by I don't know how many and you've got a ball park figure of the kids dieing in Darfur or Iraq daily, and yet no one seems to be too concerned. Pitiful, isn't it?

Oh god, I can't stand it.

I remember when this happened here... The country was in shock. This quote from the village priest: "That's the end. It crippled us. There's nothing left in the village now that all our children are gone," he said.

aaaaaah. Crying again.
