WOOOT!!! I JUST GOT A SUPERB! [More:]

A Voigtlander Superb that is. It's an incredible twin-lens reflex camera which was built from 1932 to 1939. From what I've read only 30,000 were made. I've not found a lot of information about them, but they were apparently quite innovative. For example parallax is corrected automatically while focusing. I've been wanting one for some time, and they come up fairly rarely on ebay, and often in poor condition. This one looks great, and I think I got a great price even though it's the Skopar lens and not the Heliar. I'm extremely excited, and can't wait to shoot some film with this!
Here's the seller's photo of the beauty:

OMG. How cool, dude! It is GORGEOUS.

Can't wait to see what ya do with it!

*remembers he should dig out that Lubitel-2 and try again*

Thanks BP!! I knew of all people you'd appreciate this!

Heh, and I got a nice Lubitel-2 from the same seller. I'm just super stoked about the Superb!!!

Yeah, the Lubitels are a dime a dozen (though built in the original, actual Soviet LOMO plant, so kinda cool that way) but the Superb is, well, aptly named! :) I've just been reading about it since you posted... very cool camera.

If I'm ever your way, I'll definitely want you to shoot a couple of rolls with it BP!

Oh, and how cool is it that the film goes side to side instead of bottom to top (or top to bottom if you have a Minolta Autocord)

Now I understand why the "frame number" window is where it is, and that bump on the side... weird!

I'll also take you up on that field trip, assuming ya manage to get that thing through airport security. Heh!

Veryy Cool! you'll have lots of fun, I'm sure.

Very nice eekacat, I'm officially jealous.

Let us know when you get some photos up, I'd love to see them.

The only thing I've used close to that was borrowed a Yashica Mat that I used to take these.

Very cool -t! Those Yashicas are nice too. The TLRs are so cool on their own. There's something about Voigtlander, and especially the Superb that draws me. I'm as excited as a kid at Christmas to be getting this.

Beautiful camera. That's a major flaw in digital cameras, they just aren't pretty and they have no mystique. The high end ones are interesting in a geeky way but there's no magic.

Hey -t. What film are you shooting with the Yashica? Those are some really nicely composed photos in the square format, and the color is really great! Gives me some hope with color and the Skopar lens.

How terribly terribly groovy, eekacat!

doctor_negative, you are so right.

eekacat, I looked for the negatives to try and id the film type, but I can't find them right now (my life is in complete chaos). I should run across them while packing, if so I'll drop you an email.

No big deal -t. I just like the look of the colors.
