Toes In, or Out? Spring and summer casual shoes. Is your favorite choice sneakers, sandals, flip-flops, clogs, or something else?[More:]Mesh sneakers are my favorite, with a very light weight microfiber sock. I feel kinda unsanitary in flip-flops and sandals, particularly in public rest rooms. I sell Crocs at work, but haven't taken the plunge myself. I like the cushioning and support I get from a good running shoe. What's your favorite?
Flip flops. But I can't wear them to work.

Tevas. I can wear anything to work.

Nike sandals. I'm not a brand snob -- they just fit well, last for a while, keep my feet cool, give me funky tan lines, and they're available in a boys' size that fits me (for half the price of women's shoes).

Out, out, out! I just got these yesterday:

The little reflective bits are mother-of-pearl... cute! I have about eight or nine pairs of sandals that are a variation on this theme, and wear them pretty much exclusively for about half the year. It's a bit of a comfort issue, though for longer treks, so I'm looking for these Croc sandals in the hopes they will be near as comfortable as regular crocs:

I'm barefoot for most of my day, but when I go outside I may wear sneakers if I'm exercising or thongs (flip flops) if I'm going to the shops.

Sometimes pretty sandals....

Reefs (in black on black) or Rainbows.

I wear them pretty much year-round, unless it's pouring. Yes, I'm a California college girl.

If I'm working in lab, then plain black low-top Chucks, which go just fine with my sweatshirt-and-jeans uniform.

These days I wear dress shoes everywhere. A man has to look classy, you know?

I wear Caterpillar work boots everywhere. Unless I'm riding, in which case I have on my 99.999% waterproof motorcycle boots.

Open-toed shoes are only for around the house, or for times when one might get one's feet wet. My ankles sprain rather than break, so I find the ankle support provided by open-toed shoes to be lacking.

I have a pair of leather, cushioned flip-flops that I wear if I'm being super-lazy. But usually I wear a pair of red ballet flats.

Ballet flats (or "driving shoes", if you will) are like sophisticated flip-flops.

Toes out! I love me some sandals. Although I just bought some new ballet flats, too, so I'll probably alternate in and out.

We always called flip-flops "go aheads" where I grew up. Anyone who referred to them as "flip flops" was definitely not local and not to be trusted.

There are many reasons I am not to be trusted. Calling "go aheads" flip-flops is not one of them ;p

Sandals when I'm not working. I have a pair of Chacos that I pretty much live in in the summer (anything fancier is impractical here, and people will mock you for your city shoes). At work I wear mesh-sided steel toed runners. Yay, sandal season!

I need for info. . .I have no idea what you are talking about. My wife wears mesh Columbia sneakers that are water-friendly.

I have segued from tevas to chacos. My other summer shoes are runners with short socks.

And go aheads around the house and at times I know I will not need to do a lot of walking.

I prefer to go barefoot, but I've got a couple pair of plastic Keens and Birkenstocks that are sort of a summer default. Slip-on Vans if there's a chance I'll be getting on a bicycle.

I keep meaning to buy some Chacos, and some of those Reef bottle-opener flip-flops, but have yet to get around to it.

I can't find a photo of them online (or at least not quickly), but they're running shoes designed for wear on construction sites, with crazy-ass treads (I spend a lot of time on roofs in the summer) and steel toes. These ones have little mesh window thingies on the sides, so they breathe really well.

box, my Chacos impress the hell out of me. The straps are actually all one strap, so you can adjust for any part of your foot (and flatten the toe strap if you don't like it). They seem to be indestructible, too--I've had mine for over two years, through all kinds of terrain, walking through rivers, etc, and they're showing no signs of wear. They're a bit heavy, but I'm okay with that.

Since last Summer I've been wearing knock-off Crocs. I used to wear sandals but have had to start having my feet covered due to neuropathy in me toesies due to teh diabetes. I'd wear them anyway because they're so light and comfy. I need to get another pair.

Clogs, mostly, all year round. That would be why I have a huge skinned knee right now. I need to get another pair of the Croc ripoffs that I really like - they're not quite as horrible looking as regular Crocs and insanely comfortable, but the dog keeps eating them. I do have a couple pairs of clog like mules for summer but I'm not ready to make the switch from my beloved fuzzy lined closed toe ones yet.

I'm a flip-flop gal, though I'm in the market for a pair of Chacos. Another type of shoe I supremely adore are ibicencos, but for the life of me I can't find them in the US or even a picture of them online. Basically they're leather sandals that you see in Catalunya and the Balearic Islands. One of my pairs, hand carried to me by a friend almost 10 years ago, just broke in a likely irreparable way. Sigh.

Open toes whenever possible! My current favorite pair is Skechers sandals like these. Only mine are in black, and are probably discontinued now. But they are so comfortable, but chic looking as well.

I do have a pair of Croc knockoffs. They are surprisingly comfortable, but I just feel a bit weird wearing them anywhere other than the garden.
