Microsoft destroys Springsteen's Dancing In The Dark vid As part of some hideous internal promotion of Vista SP1.
Springsteen's 'Dancing in the Dark' video featured a young Courtney Cox.

And Matthew Perry and Jennifer Aniston did that Windows 95 promotional video.

Worryingly it's really well written. There's talent behind this hideousness.

Well, I don't have sound and I didn't watch the whole thing, but I think it's sort of cute. Is it because I'm to young to treat Bruce Springsteen with reverence? I mean, the original video is pretty cheese-tastic as it is...

"too young". I've been doing that a lot recently.

Too bad Apple didn't make it... people would think it was hilariously ironic and be quoting it and stuff.

And then it went, like, bebebebebeep.

I never considered "Dancing in the Dark" to be the Best of the Boss, so I'm not too concerned. Just like "Start Me Up" was not the Best of the Stones.

Now Reagan using "Born in the USA", THAT was sickening. And the cruise line using Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life"... yeesh.

Man,that was awful. I really don't think that Dancing in the Dark is Bruce's apex by a long shot, but still. That was terrible. Just medium-budget enough to not be low budget, but also not to seem professional. Man, I feel violated.

/queue Vista SP1 security against being violated jokes.

I suppose that's one way to get jonmc to move to ubuntu.

For some reason, Lust for Life being used by a cruise ship line made me smile. I dunno why. Seriously, though, Bruce owes someone a punch in the mouth for that Vista; Gotta Get Me Some.

heh...seanyboy, I'm in day three of trying to move to ubuntu. It's kinda hard to adjust so far.

I'm not clicking on that link.

Reminds me of how Nick Drake's "Pink Moon" in the VW commercial made me cringe.

Exactly, BP.

Kinda reminds me of "We Built This Starbucks". For a revue of the debut performance at the 2005 Starbucks Licensed Stores Awards ceremony, scroll down to Thursday, February 24.

Uh, that'd be a review of the debut. All them Frenchified words got me cornfused.

My god, that was her? I remember when the video was fairly fresh and it was on some best-of-the-eighties reweind, and I laughed at that girl looking so perfectly 80's, like a brunette Christie Brinkley (sp?) with that tomcat hair. I never made the connection that a few years later she was the nineties in freinds. neat.
