What are you looking forward to this week?→[More:] For me, it's submitting a revised manuscript back to the editor and finally getting that off my hands. For the weekend I plan to attend an all day event in town or head to SF for the meetup. You?
This afternoon: I meet with the department to outline my class for teaching in the fall.
Tomorrow: The pub quiz team *finally* gets back together
The day after: Babysitting the awesome nephew
The day after: picking Guy up at the airport
today: birthday. (I am 23.)
tomorrow: sleeping in.
wednesday: dentist and orthodontist trips. After two years, I sort of relish the ten wire-free minutes I get every six weeks.
thursday: bbq/bonfire on wreck beach with the other newspaper kids.
friday: orientation at second job (being a roadie! woo!), actually going out for birthday.
saturday: what should be a fun photo session with my sister and her re-husband (they got divorced, gave it a second shot, have now bought a house and have child on way) and Dad's back from his business trip, hopefully with Quebecois maple syrup.
longer-term: I found out that my tax return for 2006 hadn't been filed, and that I get significant monies back, and I will for 2007, as well (not as much, mind, but still).
--Planting the summer veggies this weekend!
--There's a vegetarian seder Saturday night that I've been going to for the last several years (day dayehnu! [or however that's spelled]). I actually have *gasp* plans with *other* people *each* weekend day this week!
Tomorrow: my best friend and her husband will be Stateside after six months in South America. I can't wait to see her.
Friday: The fact that it is Friday.
I get paid tomorrow. And at some point Ikea is going to deliver a couch. A couch I can drink beer on, with any luck. And that, that will make life worth living for.
I wish it was just a little bit warmer so I could hang out on the porch comfortably. It was warm the day I was working, why not my day off? I'm going stir crazy in here.
Friday is my first paycheck from my new job. At midnight, when I get off work, I am heading straight to my favorite bar to celebrate. Then, on Saturday, I start a new monthly freelance gig, which I'm really looking forward to.
Tomorrow: Payday.
Later this week: Hopefully my roommate has gotten the fucking airline tickets for our Memorial Day trip and also putting my affairs in order. It's about time.
Getting through it. One of my coworkers had a heart attack (he's okay; it's not his first one; he's not even that old; he has several stents in; wow, makes you think) on Friday which means that we are down a staff person for at least two weeks. When you have a staff of four, that hurts. So today and tomorrow I'm learning classes, then I'll be teaching every day. Also tomorrow night we have a lecture and reception for like 250 people. That was already my event so that's organized but it's going to be a 13 hour straight day without much in the way of breaks. Also I have to work all day Saturday for our Earth Day celebrations. So I am looking forward to getting through this week and the next one.
I plan to attend the same all-day event in the same town. And watch the parade! And the doggies!
hah, mudpuppie. I feel the same way. I am thankful that very few college kids live near me so I don't expect my part of town to smell like beer on Sunday. I missed the Weiner dog races/dog Frisbee last year so I am excited for that too.
I'm moving to a cute new house and saying farewell to Northern California for a few years. It's bittersweet. But I sort of like moving. I've been clearing clutter like mad.
I hope this week to find a damn house to live in that doesn't require me to evict the current tenant, thus passing the shit-storm I'm in to the next innocent. I'm also looking forward to getting the clogged drains de-clogged today so I can use the indoor toilet again. I am looking forward to a day soon when I can wake up and not have to think about which disaster I need to deal with first.
