It's a sauna-shower, which explains why the shower head is a simple loose one rather than on the wall above your head. You go there to rinse off after a sauna. But yes, I think it's pretty ugly.
That's a money pit for sure. It would probably cost a similar amount to bring it back to the condition that it deserves to be in. Notice the picture of the plaster falling down---that's water damage in the walls. Big bucks right there. If one had ten or twelve million euros though....
Look at that tapestry on the wall! I would want that, except my cat would ruin it. And I'd be hard pressed to find a wall big enough for it in my house!
It has an "allfutureinsurance" which covers fire and storms up to 800.000 kr. Part of the land ca 3000 kvm with building rights of three buildings is in the discussion phase right now, buyer of castke gets first dibs/decides this. The rest of the land is gated by stonewall (old style judging by the word they used) and offers a elaborate park area with hardwood tress and two farm buildings in graystone. Stored in the castle is a large amount of building material that kan be given to buyer for the finishing of the renovation, price to be discussed. Discreet transformator-station (electricity) is on it's way on the land, placed so that it will not disturb the living enverionment or milieu.
Previous renovation includes "frame-strengthening" (that's replacing wood poles that hold the house up), roof frame strengthening, new tarp roof (so no, that's not steel), partly new electricity, new water & plumming piping throughout, new kitchen and bathrooms as well as some renovation on the interior.
You can apply for Riksantikvarieämbetets benefit/ subsidy for therestoring and keeping of this historical place.
/ end crap translation.
More details - they say there's painting on the ground floor from Pontus de la Gardie era still in the castle - thoough I think they have the dates wrong, they also say that it was originally built in 1828 and then renovated by architecht Helgo Zetterwall in 1873 - I think they got that first "18" wrong since it looks more like early 1700. But what do I know? :)=
I'd say it looks like more of a mansion than a castle.
While Brandon Blatcher may be willing to settle for a mere mansion, I am not.
I want a mighty fortress, dammit.
Great link! I've visited this one (not inside tho, bummer) and it's ah-doh-rah-ble - though it's a "villa" not a castle.
CitrusFreak12 is right though, without towers and drawbridges it's more like masnion, or perhaps a palace (the one I link is not big enough for that title) rather than castle which seems to imply firebreathing dragons and princesses. But "castle" really means, a large building formerly occupied by a ruler and fortified against attack or any strong, imposing, and stately mansion depending on which dictionary you ask.
Castles should include fire breathing dragons though.
I like the incorporation of the old shelves in the new kitchen. Bathroom is too modern, and I think that if I could afford this place (cost, upkeep, renovations, fixing what are probably halfway rotted timbers in the walls, etc.), I'd hire an historian to bring it back to what it would've looked like. Some of the walls in the rooms look a little too modern.
Having said that, if I were given the place, I wouldn't refuse. Nope.
