The #1 Song on This Date in History [More:]

Stolen from the blue. I actually went to this site a couple months ago.

What was the number one song on your birthday?
Mine is "Alone Again (Naturally)" by Gilbert O'Sullivan

I am not familiar with this song.

I actually posted the #1 song from by birthday a couple of months ago on my birthday... I'm very happy it's a song I know and love.

You don't know "Alone Again (Naturally)"?? *sigh* Good grief, I'm old.

I never liked it all that much, but that scene in The Virgin Suicides when they're playing music to each other over the phone instead of talking made me like it a little bit.

Mine's "Baby Love" by The Supremes. And I've never like the song, either. It also looks like it was #1 for most of the month, too. I'd much rather have "Alone Again." That song always seemed to come on at the right time.

OMG, how can you not like "Baby Love"?

I listened to "Alone Again". It is kind of familiar. I feel lame that I don't know a number one hit from the last 50 years. I thought I knew all the hits! :)

Your song is fabulous, BP. I have always loved that song. I see some people chimed in on your thread. I thought maybe this has been done before. I remember now that I read your thread when you originally posted it. My memory is shot.

I love "Baby Love".

Well, I think that's a sort of obscure hit, Lori... I sure didn't grow up hearing it.

Oh wow, the #1 song on my brother's birthday rocks, too.

I think it's a Dianna Ross thing. I've never liked her. I think I'm a little strange.

"In the year 2525."

I'm sorry, world. I was a newborn - there wasn't much I could do.

"Kansas City" by Wilbert Harrison. Never heard of it. But that was in the US. In Australia, where I was born, it was "A Fool Such As I" by Elvis Presley.

"My Boyfriend's Back" -- I was born the year before music became good.

Heh. Mine was ABC by the Jackson 5. Not too shabby.

"Candy Man" by Sammy Davis, Jr.

I have that ABC on a single!

"In the year 2525."

I used to love that song when I was growing up! I think the lyrics are just about perfect for a self-righteous preteen. :-)

Mine was 'Play That Funky Music,' later covered by the always-original Vanilla Ice.

Miko - It looks like you share the same birth week as my wife. "In the Year 2525" (which is an awesome song, and certainly up there on my musical guilty pleasures list along with ABBA and Jim Steinman) is her song as well.

Mine is "Get Back".

Mine is "Midnight Train To Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips. I love that song. : )

Miko, maybe if we'd combined forces and fought shoulder to shoulder from our cradles, we could have stopped it.

"Tossin' and Turnin'" by Bobby Lewis.

In the Year 2525 is also one of my all-time guilty pleasure favourites.

"Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)" by Rod Stewart, which always merges in to "Downtown Train" in my head. I can't keep my Rod straight.

Hee hee!

Well, at least maybe we can have the last laugh by doing our best to still be alive.
