I am so numb to Rick Astley at this point that I just stared at that for a while, trying to figure out if this was a vanilla rockroll or a special rickroll and coming away with a sense of vague disappointment.
I met Rick once in Greenwich Village back at the beginning of the millennium. He was actually a pretty chill dude. So I can't understand the "Oh no, Rick Astley!" reaction one is supposed to have to a Rickroll. It's just goatse without teeth.
I think it's closer akin to pointing to a spot on someone's shirt and then bipping them on the nose when they look down than it is to goatse. The proper reaction to a Rickroll (or nose bip) is to shake your fist in mock anger and vow revenge, whereas the proper reaction to goatse is a vicious beatdown of the perpetrator, followed by a good long cry.
Good job, BP. You totally got me. (I've seen only two genuinely funny pranks so far today, and one only fooled me because it technically happened yesterday).
Eid, that's the funny part. It's like goatse that you can't get banned for.
Is tis the thread where we can admit that dammit, no matter how corny I thought that song is and was when it came out, Rick is cute. Like, perfect eighties cute.
You totally got me, BP! I kind of liked this song too. It reminds me of one good summer. The one thing about this song, it has a very annoying way of becoming embedded in the brain. I can't get it out of my head.
I like the song, but I am an unrepentant lover of '80s music. And it seems that I wake up most mornings with Never Gonna Give You Up in my head. At least it's an earworm I enjoy.
I'm waiting for some television show (it'll probably be "Best Week Ever") where they tell someone on the street to look over because Rhiannon is going to perform and then Rick sings instead.
