My lost offline weekend! Argh! Our DSL died sometime Saturday morning, and so we were CUT OFF from the outside world all weekend. [More:] OK, it really wasn't that bad, except I knew I had several emails waiting to be replied to (I tend to catch up with email over the weekend).

Now I have to call AT&T customer service this morning once they wake up, and figure out what's going on. (I think lightning may have zapped the DSL modem... it still lights up and everything in the computer itself looks okay, yet there is no internet.)
What a scary way to spend a weekend! Offline is the worst line to be...

All kidding aside, I spend very little time on the phone, and we don't have any cable tv, or satellite, or what have you, but I would hate to lose the internet connection. Even though I'm not one for hours online at a shot, I really like to be able to get at info when I want it!

I can cope being internetless, but I have to admit that when my phone service was out for 3 days, I got VERY nervous, even though I rarely talk on the phone. I just kept thinking about when I fell and broke my ankle, and how if I did it again I wouldn't be able to call for help. It was unnerving, and probably contributed to my buying a cheapo payasyougo cell phone.

I mean, look, I step out for TWO DAYS and I almost miss seeing a pic of mygothlaundry wrapped up in a snake. That's the internet for ya, man... always doing something interesting when you're not looking.

It would be hard for me, if only for the fact that a lot of my day to day business is done on the net, now.

Plus, there is the phenomenum that, at least in one's mind, if one does not keep one's toe in the water, well the collective memory of the net is so short that one will be forgotten about. . .

Two of my favorite types of photos are women holding snakes and women holding guitars.

Yikes. The snake looks better than me in that picture.

Nah, mgl... you just look intense. Which is appropriate when holding a ginormous snake.
