My mental picture of Red Rocks includes John Tesh, for some reason. . .

I think there was one of those PBS begathon specials on this.

indeed it is, eth. this will be my first actual concertgoing experience there, tho we've ridden bikes around the ampitheatre scads of times and I've watched folks play there on TV for decades. Our Denver concertgoing has been so far limited to venues like the Church, the Fox, and the Bluebird (as well as various dungy bars around campus). Which are all fine, but they definitely aren't Red Rocks.

yeah danf, this is why I haven't been to RR for a concert ever in the 8 years I've lived here. I briefly considered trying to get tix to see U2 there a few years back but then I considered the part where U2 jumped the shark around about 1990 or so, along with the fact that chances of me getting tix to that show were about the same as winning the lotto.

My own concert excitement I posted the other day.

Red Rocks is a very cool amphitheater, and is full of magic. Many acts come through here and want to play there rather than some of the larger venues just because of it's history and lingering magic cosmic dust.

The Beatles even played there in 1964, and it was the only concert they didn't sell out on that tour. Not because Denver lacked any interest in the Fab Four, but rather the amphitheater is, especially for the time, in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. In 1964 kids didn't sprout cars for their 16th birthday like they do these days, and it was difficult for them to get to Red Rocks.

Sounds like you'll have an awesome time, LFR! Even acts that are pretty mediocre seem to play well there.

Uh, I didn't mean that Death Cab is a mediocre band, but rather that everyone that plays there seems to outdo themselves. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

ALL YOUR DONUTS ARE BELONG TO US!

eek, I'm thinking RR will be particularly tremendous at that time of year (last week of May). I. Cannot. WAIT!!

and in unrelated news, the mister just got a brand schpanky new high end road bike, and I am so tremendously screwed it's not even funny.

Wait, U2 went back to Red Rocks? Did it snow again? Did Bono march around with a flag?

lfr, I was thinking of emailing you to tell you that I got the Creature CD in the mail today, and have been dancing around like an adolescent fool all afternoon listening to it. I am SO glad you tipped me off to this band! They're a riot! Squee!
(Partner likes 'em, too... bonus score!)
