It's no Hookahdome, but... Los Angeles: Comfy neighborhood coffeehouse alert?

You know, I've been living here in Hollywood for about three months now, and I've yet to find one of my true essentials: a coffeehouse to call my own.
Growing up in Boston, I was spoiled by the Diesel and the Other Side and Francesca's and the 1369 and (going back a bit) Curious Liquids and the Someday, among many others.
Here in L.A., though, I've gone past a few places, but maybe I'm just not looking closely enough. At least now that the Nova Express is gone.
Where can a man go in this town for some mellow music, good tea, warm lighting, friendly people, and (if I'm being really ambitious) some cushions and couches and big chairs to curl up in with a notebook?
