21 March 2008

Stop the voices in my head , and i mean the unending loop of bad, bad music that keeps playing in my mental audio feed.[More:] Flipping channels has made The Cranberries "Linger" come on when nothing else is in there, and the other choices on limited auto play are as bad or worse. You know how you know the songs you hate as well as the songs you love? Make it stop! I NEED AN AUDITORY CIRCUIT BREAKER.
i wish we could all program each others itunes from a distance.
Breed me an earworm i can live with, or suggest me something i can use to blot out the bad sound.
i also made the mistake of helping my mother buy an ABBA cd, so i keep going to the best of ABBA.
Shuffle has given me a Mariah Carey cover by Bonnie Prince Billy.
There's some creepy theme going on that ends up at Celine Dion's house.
A thousand times no.

Otis will help you.

Too too too too

Two good, that is.
Otis will help.
By the Power of Motown!
Or stax smax.

i like Zooey. It's not an easy name to pull off.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 22:26
And, to combine the ___ & ___ AND Stax thing, howzabout Sam & Dave?
posted by bmarkey 21 March | 22:27
I like Zooey, too. Well, I've never actually met her, but I like her voice.
posted by bmarkey 21 March | 22:28
It's too easy to forget how good Otis was.
i'm in the rare mood to bother clicking a you tube link.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 22:28
Otis was a master.

I'd hook you up with some actual tunes (vs youtube), but I'm at work.
posted by bmarkey 21 March | 22:30
That song is not doing much for me but i like her in general.

I love this version of "Fine and Mellow". The subtext between Billie Holiday and Lester Young... regret, acceptance, forgiveness (of a sort, anyway).

Or there's always Adult Swim.

You and my mp3s are too downbeat and deep for me tonight.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 22:43
Sorry. I'm feeling old and tired tonight.

Me with a half-assed whisk and a spatula is more like a pastry cutter than a mixer.

This is the first thing with vocals that has come up so far. It's slowly pushing towards upbeat.
Slower waiting for uploads.
i have a lot of untitled unknown things that are pretty great.
Now if i only knew what they were.
And now some Ted Leo.

Excuse me, i have to add eggs.

I posted this a little while back, but it's pretty upbeat:

Joe "King" Carrasco & The Crowns - Caca De Vaca

More things my shuffle wants you to hear. Half all this is new to me and i don't even know how i feel about it.
Wow, my computer is slow tonight.

And now divshare has taken a big crash on me.
*sigh*

Not only that, but your last five links go to metachat.org/skins/zombie/.
posted by bmarkey 22 March | 00:06
Lazy tired me didn't want to bother retyping all of it. i'm trying to see if i can get anything else up on divshare, but i think i'm at the free limit.

It's the thought that counts, eth. I can't listen to them until I get home, anyway.

The Bees seems to be stalking something. The storm might have scared up a mouse.
There could be some Wild Kingdom drama in a bit.
Baby's first bloodshed, just before her birthday.

i don't know if she will make friends with it or kill it, whatever it may be.
posted by ethylene 22 March | 00:21
Science Girl told me the story of the cat she had as a child; apparently she (the cat, not Science Girl) would save the heads from her kills and line them up on the doormat as prizes for the family. Thoughtful, no?
posted by bmarkey 22 March | 00:26
Quite.
i had a furry guy who would leave blood drained prey by the heads of suitors as they slept. Classy.
Or live but incapacitated prey.

It was all recent music with obvious 80s influences, from punky to romantic.
Once this last attempt flies or fails, i'm going to reboot.

I've heard that singing the Flintstones song will cure any ear worm.
posted by rhapsodie 22 March | 01:21
i really need a cure. i have no idea how it got stuck in there so stubbornly, but it's killing me. It's been days and defensive music isn't working.

We must marshal forces against this auditory tragedy! Try some Israelites.
posted by taz 22 March | 04:17
You know what will take your mind off the bad noise? Shoes. Also, Shoes.
posted by taz 22 March | 04:28
And of course, and always, Shoes. And, Shoes.
posted by taz 22 March | 04:35
I find the Sesame Street theme song works well as a mindworm killer. 'Course then you're stuck with the Sesame Street theme song for a bit, but it does go away.

I get "Sinnerman" done by Nina Simone in my head. This is probably due to the fact that it was my going-out-song for years (last song played while getting ready to go out/drinking at home before going out.) I totally recommend investing in that song, it's the best thing ever even after it's been looping in my head for more than ten years. (though I usually just hear the clapping "breakdown")

I cry POOOWER! - shoot now I'll be humming it all day again.
