Nobody asked me to prom, ever.

jan from the small size only you're at the end of the front row!
posted by rainbaby 14 March | 09:02
Which end?
posted by essexjan 14 March | 09:07
Also, I can't believe nobody asked you to the prom, rainbaby. You're beautiful.

I'm so glad there weren't proms in the UK when I was at school. They're creeping in now though.
posted by essexjan 14 March | 09:09
I didn't say which end because I get confused. If I'm in the monitor, the right. If I'm looking at the monitor, the left.

Aww, thanks, essexjan. It was awful when I was in High School - you had to have a male/female date to go. Now they sell individual tickets and kids can go in groups if they want. That sounds fun. Same sex date-like behavior or cross-dressing for prom is still a no go, most places.
posted by rainbaby 14 March | 09:26
Not a school picture, but a posed studio one, which oughta count for something.

Either 2nd, 3rd & 4th grade or 3rd, 4th & 5th. Count yourself fortunate that the rest of those oh so 70s outfits are not visible.

High school senior picture. The unicorn necklace (which I wore pretty much all the way through my teens) now makes me cringe a little inside.

Such cute kids and attractive teens! Wow, MGL, it's cool how much your daughter looks like you did as a teenager.

All my kid pics are at my mom's house- I totally forgot about today's PF theme! Drat.

I don't have any school photos of myself -- alternative school, 6 in graduating class, no yearbook.

These photos will also work when we have a photo Friday about eyelashes.

Just a guess, danf, but third row, second from the left?
posted by box 14 March | 10:17
ooh - that was my guess, too!
posted by taz 14 March | 10:19
That'd be my guess too box.
posted by essexjan 14 March | 10:20
Some of the patterns on those kids' shirts are definitely best appreciated at a high resolution.

This cracks me up. Everything about it...from my brows, to my nails, to my dates mullet to the fact that I'm wearing a promise ring from my loser boyfriend (not my date who was just a friend as boyfriend graduated the year earlier).

Amazing and wrong at the same time.

Me in 1972, and my grandmother (top left) in 1935.

Dang, I have my kindergarten and high-school photos at my desk, but no way to scan! I do have some (I think) hilarious pictures from my 20 year high-school reunion. We really look like we're having a great time, huh?

posted by mrmoonpie 14 March | 10:36
mrmoonpie, this picture is wonderful.
posted by essexjan 14 March | 11:03
Gosh mrmoonpie. . .I have never gone to any reunions and now I am not sorry, having seen how much fun and hilarity there is at one.

tazzie and box - second row, third from left. The one you guessed is the girl who lived around the corner from me. At least 3 people in that pic are no longer alive. Not sure about the teacher. She was formidable, but an excellent educator, as I remember.
posted by danf 14 March | 11:07
I forgot about this as well, so I'm gonna post a couple that I posted before. Me aged 3:

I was going to dig up some of my ridiculous high school dance pics, but I ended up working late last night. Here's a Photo Friday repost, though, 'cause it never fails to make me laugh:

Closest thing I could find was me after my high school graduation.
posted by CitrusFreak12 14 March | 11:36
eamondaly, you were so cute! The shirt, the hair, the facial expression. You had such a "well hello there, ladies..." vibe.
posted by iconomy 14 March | 11:52
eamondaly is adorable. That's my favorite ever little boy haircut - I think of it as the Cousin Oliver - and I inflicted it on my son for years.
posted by mygothlaundry 14 March | 11:58
Our monitor is in the process of dying, so I can't see any of your pictures. I will now make the sad emoticon; my apologies to those offended.

:(

Oddly enough, my graduation pic is only on my work computer, so even though I'm pretty sure I've posted it before I will post it again when I get to work.

'Most likely to succeed at whatever your little heart desires' is a pretty great award.
posted by box 14 March | 12:23
You know, rhapsodie, there's not many people who really suited those big 80s glasses but in that first picture you totally rock them.
posted by essexjan 14 March | 12:49
First try posting a pic here, hope it works... this is me (on left) and my best friend from high school, at his senior prom.

posted by jtron 14 March | 13:36
LET'S TRY THAT AGAIN

Aw, nuts. Here it is anyway.
posted by jtron 14 March | 13:38
essexjan, that's me and the MrsMoonPie, in a self-taken shot. She didn't go to high school with me, nor was she the same MrsMoonPie as the one at my 10-year reunion, so it was fun trotting her around, especially when it came to introducing her to a former flame there.
posted by mrmoonpie 14 March | 13:41
Yeah, I knew it was you, it was the Steven Seagal look that gave it away, mrmoonpie.
posted by essexjan 14 March | 13:57
I may look like Steven Seagal, but I most definitely do not run like him.

MGL, I see your unicorn and raise you a Celtic cross... I wore it my whole senior year... I've never been Christian... and I bought it at the Renaissance Faire.
posted by halonine 14 March | 17:17
jan - the only problem with those 80s glasses is that it was 1994, not 1984. But small town Alaska was pretty behind with regards with fasion.
posted by rhapsodie 14 March | 18:01
eamondaly as a child looks like someone I've seen in film or on TV in that photo. I wish I knew her name, or could remember something she was in. Wow ramix, I guess that was a big house. I think I have a crush on rhapsodie with those glasses. ;-)
