Running out of Pacific Salmon [More:]my girlfriend gets upset that I'm pretty doom and gloom lately. But when you take articles about global warming, rising oceans, peak oil, etc. it's hard not to wonder if we're doomed...or at least going to be SERIOUSLY challenged in next few decades.

"What are we gonna do about it?" she wants to know...

Are these salmon pink, do they have floppy ears, and are they laying on the side of a hill, by any chance?

OK black8, we ARE going to hell in a handbasket, in a number of ways.

My wife is like that also. . .

The wheat super-blight is simply another part of the Evil Corn Farmers plot to take over the world. Will America wake up in time to stop them? Nah.

yay the wonders of monocropping!

Also, i love the arguments against closing the runs "I wont have any income this year"

But if you eat all the fish this year, you wont have ANY next year, or the year after next, or the year after next. That is for certain.

The Fish & Wildlife people up here shut it down or severely limit the fishing every now and then. That is, aside from the usual season closings. I think, even if it's closed, that the First Nations people are still allowed to fish but it's limited. I could be wrong on that, haven't read a whole lot about it.
